The original mono mix is available on both USA and Japan laserdisc. There’s a few listings on LDDB for decent prices. 

I’d love if someone out there has it and would be willing to rip it so it can sync it.

SpiceDiver Alternative Edition Redux 1080p Rebuild (source for Freman blue eye fix)

Planned Audio:
2.0 Surround
Dolby Atmos Upmix

Planned Changes
- Restore the missing theatrical scenes (example: the heart plug murder scene)
- Remove obvious looped, fake, or duped scenes
- Restore Princess Irulan's narration (possibly the introduction as well but I quite like some of the added info in the TV prologue)
- Fix the Theatrical segments audio with the 70mm mix (for some reason the Extended 5.1 mix has them in lower quality)

I've been working towards restoring some Unsolved Mysteries segments that are only available from (mostly) poor quality VHS captures.

I didn't see an existing thread on Unsolved Mysteries in search so I assume no one else has looked at this?

These things are in very bad shape, so getting them to comfortably viewable on a TV is about the most that would be hoped for. I've done a lot of my own Avisynth testing already but wondered if anyone had any suggestions or was interested in the series.]]>

The opening has also been changed to black & white. Now, Savini has mentioned this idea over the years, but it always supposed to be a gradual transition from B&W to colour during the opening credits. As it is in this release, however, the film smash-cuts to colour right in the middle of a shot. I'm not a fan. The idea is simply too "meta" and kicks down the 4th wall.

I'd like to make my own version that keeps the entire opening in colour. I'd like to make it BDMV compatible, which should be easy enough, except I have no experience in fooling around with DV and Atmos tracks. If it were BD, I'd simply use TSMuxer to do the job as the disc uses seamless branching and it'd be easy to swap out one segment file with another, then remux as one total file built from the relevant playlist.

Unfortunately, that approach won't work here and I'm guessing it's maybe due to the presence of DV and/or Atmos. Does anyone here have any advice on how to tackle this? I'd like to avoid any re-encoding if at all possible.

According to blah-ray (and just by my judgment of the provided samples), the 2001 R1 Paramount DVD/2008 R2 Optimum DVD is easily the best-sounding audio currently available.

I'd love to know if anyone has taken a crack at this.
