I happened to stumble upon this page with a Fellowship of the Ring cut that seems to be no longer available called 'The Fellowship of the Ring Variable Aspect Ratio aka Open Matte'
Is there any chance anyone here happens to still have this? Fellowship of the Ring is by miles my favorite film of all time and I would kill to experience it in a slightly different way. 

Or if someone has only the open matte shots for any film in the trilogy I would insert them into the films myself. Any help would be mucho appreciated!

I read the rules so I'm fairly sure this post is allowed, but if this post is not appropriate please let me know or simply delete it mods.

My questions:

In the 4k UHD remaster of the Sam Raimi Spiderman Trilogy, do the shots that use CGI get left in 2k or do they do something else to make it look 2k?

Is there a way to keep a film frame 4k and input the 2k CGI in?

What if Sony remastered the Lord of the Rings trilogy (as in made it a 4k digital intermediate)?

P.S. The Frighteners didn’t use a digital intermediate, even though it is CGI heavy.]]>

As stupid as that sounds, the lead character, Claire, is much more likeable in that version. Also, there is some anti-American slams in the Director's cut that annoy me.

I was considering using Criterion's release and an old German DVD and U.S. laserdisc transfer as a guide to constructed an HD theatrical version, except it's beyond my abilities at the moment.

The problem being that there's credits in places where there isn't in the Criterion version, there's some commentator voice overs in the theatrical cut to make up for missing footage... basically there is a lot of differences. That's not taking into account some of the serious color changes.

Has anyone been considering trying to make this reconstruction?]]>
