I was wondering if someone has the properly restored European Amazon 1080p WEB-DL¹ of Disney’s Robin Hood (1973). I’d like to use it for a video of the sync Songs from Sherwood Forest².
  1. This runs at 25fps and is not to be confused with the Disney+ 1080p WEB-DL, which is of Disney’s destructively restored Blu-ray version and runs at 23.976fps.
  2. This is a sync of the movie with Jethro Tull’s album Songs from the Wood (1977) on repeat until the end of the movie. It was discovered by Tyler C. Buffett in April 15th, 2014. I’m going to use my rip of the 2003 remastered CD of the album (minus the 2 bonus tracks) for the sync audio made in Audacity, slow the video down to 23.976fps in MKVToolNix, and replace the movie audio with the sync audio in Kdenlive.

I analyzed the various Special Edition audio mixes released across different home-video releases over the years. Here are the spectrograms:

Observation:  The UE Stereo, Extreme Dolby Headphone and 2015 BD DTS Headphone X are clearly derived from the original 1993 audio master. There is a distinct, unbroken horizontal line running perfectly straight across the entire 153-minute runtime at exactly ~15.7 kHz. This is the classic signature of NTSC Horizontal Sync Pulse bleed (15.734 kHz). This type of high-frequency whine typically leaked into masters via analog video equipment or CRT monitors during the laserdisc mastering/transfer process in the 1990s.]]> Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) received a custom home-video mix supervised by original sound designer Gary Rydstrom. A speech by Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale) which tells how America helped win the war despite the attack at Pearl Harbor has been altered for Japanese and German releases, with the word "us" changed to "America's"

the December 7th date was changed to December 8th due to the time zone difference in Japan;

the words "Jap Suckers" changed to "Japs";

Colonel James Doolittle's (Alec Baldwin) line "Kill as many of those bastards as possible" was changed to "I myself would choose a tasty target";

Evelyn's (Kate Beckinsale) line "Before Doolittle's raid, Americans knew nothing but defeat; after it, nothing but victory" was changed to "After it, there was hope of victory";

a scene showing Japanese women in traditional kimonos and carrying parasols during Doolittle's Raid on Tokyo was omitted.


So i managed to pick up the Japanese 2 disc DVD to check it out as i assumed these changes wouldn't transition to the DVD releases

skipped to the scene where they changed the date on the calendar and compared it to the D+ stream and there it was! The Japanese version showed it changing from the 7th to the 8th due to the time zone difference of the attack.
