According to LDDB,

Released in 1990, [ML101827] carries a mono digital track ("Digital Video Transfer", "NEW Technicolor Restoration")

Released in 1994, "50th Anniversary Edition", [ML104754] carries a Dolby Surround digital track and Stereo Musical Score in the Analog track ("Digitally remastered for improved image and sound quality and has been remixed to Stereophonic sound from MGM's original multi-channel recording masters")

Released in 1998, [ML107086] carries a stereo digital track and musical score on the analog track

Does anybody know how these editions compare to the DVDs/BDs?

The 1990 LD probably has less NR compared to the 1994 and 1998 LDs, and the 1998 LD is probably a barebones reissue of the 1994 LD.
There's also a 1984 LD (ML100005), which probably has much less NR than the 1990 LD.
