A post on Twitter  ↴   this one brought to my attention that in a scene of Goodfellas a mistake has been digitally fixed, I'm talking about the prop car plate that detaches after the car rams into it.

This is how it was originally.

Now the plate falling off has been fixed but something else has changed: the street signs. Now with period-accurate colors.

I've never read anything about Goodfellas being altered in any way until now and I'm not sure when this was introduced (I guess for the 4k release?). It begs the question: what else did they change? I definitely didn't expect any alteration from a Scorsese movie but here we are.
I wonder who the smarmy jerk is who goes around suggesting these ridiculous changes.
Yeah it was on the 4k iirc
Yeah, I'm annoyed too by such changes, even if it is to correct errors.
I guess that's one UHD I won't be buying!
I didn't like the colors anyway.
Surprised it took this long for anyone to notice

The general consensus is that basically "nobody" ever noticed these errors before, so maybe it's something that has been bothering Scorsese  for 30 years and in the occasion of the 4k restoration some jerk said to him: "you know, we can fix them now". I can't see the studio touching a Scorsese film without his approval. But maybe he requested them?? Someone ought to ask him
Very curious indeed. This might explain this cap from caps-a-holics that I never understood.

The car on the bottom of the frame is completely erased out of the picture. Is it also due to it being anachronic?

I can only imagine! Yeah. I need to watch that scene again, but I won't be able to access my 4k player for weeks. The whole film needs to be checked at this point

You know yeah it might be a silly change but honestly it’s fixing errors it’s not on the same level as a George lucas special Edition changes. so I’m ok with this.
