They have all the same pixels I think, but different compressions, so it could be a no brainer. (except for the JP versions)
Sure, a median or average of various version will surely lead to a better resolution - if really noticeable is another matter, though!

Agree, never said the contrary!

Someone posted a rip, but it has some encoding problems (and the stereo is reversed).
I fancy in the coming months compiling all the T2 original audio pre-1999 remix.
Synced to whatever choice PDB will make
My setup is defective, but: thanks to spoRv I can provide a bit perfect ac3 track, that would needed to be decoded, before it can be worked with...
If I ever get my equipment working again for LD rips, I could record the mono. What's about the different DVD released tracks?
I have some DVD releases of that movie...

I have them all I think, one only need the original 1997 release.
For the remix, I think except for some foreign languages, all the other releases after 2000 are the same.
What i'm aiming for is:
- Original Dolby Surround TC
- Original Dolby Surround SE
- AC3 TC
- AC3 SE
- Squeeze LD Dolby Surround
- Squeeze LD AC3
- Squeeze LD mono
- THX DVD 1997
- Japan DTS (already synced here)
- 2008 Blu-ray france DTS-HD MA
I don't think other releases are worth it apart of course foreign languages.
IMHO the Squeeze kills them all. The online rip I got, I sampled, and it sounds so much more dynamic.

somehow the chin in the UHD seems a bit "flatten", like I think you can "make out" a bit of hairs around the chin,, a stubble of beard, but in the UHD the chin just has the Color of the Hair.. in some parts it feels even a bit "too artificial black", like in the corner of the mouth.
It may not be "redrawn" as Disney movies may be, but it seem very "enhanced". Not completely waxen out, as Predator Ultimate Hunter Edition... but... not cinematic like...
It's definitely strange, it looks like a straight up CG model. The weird thing is that there isn't really anymore texture to it, like you can't see any pores, but what detail there is is way over done. The details (like the cheeks in particular) also have a strange feeling of a bump map shader that lends the whole thing a video game look haha

You can see the way the light compares between the X-Treme master and the new one, it's exactly the same, which shouldn't be because they are supposed to be transfers made 15 years apart with totally different technology.
Yes those noses tips especially look like they haven't got any detail and are painted over (all the shots of Dyson look also the same and he as a large nose), also the clipped whites are exactly in the same places on both masters. This couldn't happen if you scan a neg in 4K.
I mean for T1, the new 4K master has a stability of colors, and detail in whites, that this one doesn't. To me it looks like they went back to the 2K scan from 2003 which was 16/9 according to the booklet, bumped the contrast, upscaled it to 4K, then did some software thing on it that is used on Avatar films to render detail to make stuff look real.
We have never seen, ever, any transfer that is so weird looking even Patton or Predator look just like DNRed video, not remapped.

I think the reason why it may be like this was because of the 3D conversion that was made for this specific master at the time (which in fairness, wasn't bad to watch in theaters).
