Which AMD FX to go with?

Hey all,

I'm looking in to a new AMD FX CPU as I am not set up for Ryzen just yet. It's a toss up between the 8350 or the 8370. I not a gamer. I'm not looking for any Intel cpu related info or suggestions.

I have a Gigabyte Radeon R7 370 graphics card, 2GB OC Edition. 16GB of RAM. Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3 AMD Motherboard Rev 3.0. Running Windows 7 Ultimate but considering an upgrade to Windows 10 Pro to shrink the footprint.

Any of you have some insight on which of the two AMD FX might be the wiser to consider?

Also checked a few other sites. They seem to be virtually identical performance-wise, with the 8370 being a tad more expensive and newer. The first site I linked shows the 8370 to be more economical energy-consumption wise, but comments on the same site suggest that that information may be false, as they both have the same TDP (wattage). So I'd probably go with the 8350 and save that money for something else.

Okay ... I went to Newegg. They were having a sale AND had a special promo code that gave me another $10.00 off after final tally. I bought a new FX8350 with 3 day shipping for $81.99 total.

Not bad for sure. I can't wait for it to arrive and for me to install it.

If you're going that old, it really doesn't matter much.
A few years back I bought an FX-8320 Black Edition which I overclocked beyond 8370 speeds. Good RAM and upgraded cooling was all I needed. Nothing exotic.

Honestly, it can go even faster, but my case is old and has bad ventilation behind the motherboard.

It matters to me because I don't upgrade every time the wind blows ... I don't have cash to burn, lol. I have an AMD Wraith Cooler awaiting this CPU's arrival.

I'm not looking to build a hot rod, just trying to enjoy my PC, while being appreciative that I can do the work myself to make it happen.

What I meant was, that pretty much all the CPUs in the series clock to about the same thing as long as you keep them cool. If you won't overclock, buy the fastest because they are already dated, if you will overclock, you can buy the most reasonably priced chip.

I have found that $81.99 which includes shipping for a new FX8350 is very reasonable even if it is dated.
