Independent to my Police Story 3 correction, I've been asked by offer some input on my friend's reconstruction of 'First Strike'. It's going well, except the video has this kind of 'strobing' (is there a technical term for this?) on and off throughout.

Is there a program/filter we could use that'll correct this (or at least reduce the effect)? PC or Mac, both are fine.

That's interlacing. Smile Need to deinterlace.

The images worked for me, but I've reuploaded them.

Interlacing? It must be pretty heavy for it to be that noticeable. Thanks, everyone! Will keep you all updated about this one, too.

Yeah it's from interlacing.
It is the "combing" effect of interlaced material.
If it was captured from an analogue source (LD or VHS) you need to deinterlace the raw capture, before converting, to avoid converting the interlace effects into the video...

There is no such thing as "heavy" interlacing. It's either interlaced or it is not. Smile

Fast motion can make it look "heavier". Google/Research Interlacing and you will understand.
