Hey everyone it's Watt from France.

On a long quest for info on proper versions of various films *, I visit many places, and today I saw material here that grabbed my attention and so I've decided to register to learn more from this community.

* this must be a quite common motive, I mean you must come across many ppl like that, but in general I seek proper colors and contents, like I remember the films looking and feeling when I was young. looking for proper blade runner for instance was especially tiring, getting all the cuts and then looking into fan edits lol.
audio-wise the extra (harder) quest for me is sometimes to find the desired version with french dub track, or (superharder) original french dubs. yeah because ruined colors isn't sadistic-enough, we get awful re-dubs. like imagine jaws with not-the-roy-scheider you know speaking. ugh.
anyway the quest is far from over.

Thanks for having me Heart

Thanks!

Please people tell me more about this place because my first experience confuses me completely, do you have some untold timeout policy for projects here that tells everything people make must disappear after a while ?

I was kind of given the silent treatment right away, just after discovering something I was hyper for has simply been removed and I don't understand why.

Welcome!

Can't speak for everyone, but the removal of certain projects may just be for issues of upload space?

Don't believe so, there was no explanation anyway, in any case I didn't appreciate the kinda unpolite cold/silent treatment. I don't like communities where newbs are treated in a condescending fashion by senior members who are maybe expecting them to crawl until the day their lordships deign to give them a taste of what they were attracted to the forums for.
If they jealously keep their treasures and don't want flies around, why spread honey over an entire public forums though? I wonder.

Still, the thread of the project that was pulled led me to find info about a certain DVD, even if the OP didn't even have the minimal politeness of giving me even a minimal exchange about it I put a gamble on a physical PAL copy and luckily managed to acquire the right one.

The colors and audio I was seeking are on it, at the very least.

Guess I'll have to forget about the HD treatment since I don't like the vibe here and I'm not coming back. Ciao!

Fact is, this is not a sharing community... it's easy for almost anyone with a computer, nowadays, with a minimal skill, to get a given movie, decrypt/capture/etc and put the result file for sharing anywhere... but it takes weeks, sometimes months, to finish one of our project, a labour of love, spending a lot of time, energy, and money for hardware, software, electrical bills etc. and we do not do it to get money, nor we gather money in any way like advertisiment, subscriptions and so on.

So, consider this like a club, where project members decide to share (or not) their creation with just few friends, with all members, or leave it in the wild. If you like to join the club, doing something to improve the community - that should not be necessarily to make a complete project, but could be for example help to find sources, give your opinions, test provisional files etc - you will have a reward (read: access to projects).

First, we do to share between ourselves ideas, opinions, suggestions. Second, maybe someone could be interested in the process, and could learn something useful. Third, we hope to find some new project makers that will join us.

So, if you are ready to spend some time here to help improve the whole forum, you are more than welcome; but if you think to come here, sign up, and get access to anything because you have the "right" as a member, I'm afraid to say that is not the case... we do not owe anything to anyone!

SpoRv has put it far more eloquently than I would. I've learned a lot in my time here even before I started working on and sharing projects.

However, it serves none of us well if we get members here who essentially hit and run with projects that they're interested in. It's not about jealousy or guarding what we've done, it's more about inspiring others to become active members.
