the benefit of DV over HDR10 is dynamic scene-by-scene or even frame by frame. Regular HDR is per movie.
[Help] Is converting HDR10+ to DV accurate and what's the easiest way?

Oh, I know that the dynamic metadata for Heat isn't going to magically make the movie look fantastic or anything. But I have heard there are a lot of dark scenes, so if the static HDR grading is designed to accommodate such dark scenes, then perhaps the dynamic metadata in the HDR10+ Amazon release might compensate for that in the brighter scenes.
With that said, I'm more interested in working out the easiest way to accomplish this for film and TV shows in general. I'll follow up on the link you provided, @PDB. So, thanks for that.

I hope you come out w/ a fanedit that's brighter! ? I want to be crystal clear, I apologize if its a bit annoying by now: the HDR grade that's on Amazon from 2017 is 1:1 the EXACT SAME HDR grade that's on the UHD disc that came out a few weeks back. What's different? More bandwidth on the disc for a better bitrate. I think its 60gigs vs something like 25 for the Amazon encode? So possibly sharper, less pixelation, better grain structure, less noise. That won't make anything brighter/darker though. |
