I just checked, the UHD is like the Blu-ray and the 35mm scan on this shot. And it has more modifications than just the scalpel blade, as I recall. Even if it's the least bad of the Cameron debacles, I disregarded it some time ago.

Yes I think it's noted in the french James Cameron book (or maybe another publication), that he flipped a shot in this sequence, for reasons unknown. I never checked as it was hard to see in motion, you have to compare as you did on a computer. So it's true! Crazy modification!

I wonder, if the upcoming german dolby atmos mix might help on custom made remixes... Depending on how the german dub is alligned in the dolby atmos enciding, I think...

While working on my own sync of the international mono from the 2001 MGM DVD, I noticed a mirrored shot, since my sync is image based. It's flipped horizontally on the old master, as I checked the 35mm scan and it's just like on the 2012 remaster. Did you guys know about this? I never knew this shot was mirrored at some point. It's the only one I noticed when watching the whole movie half and half:

I noticed it when I did my regrade. I can't think of any reason to flip the shot.

It’s probably because of the geography of the scene, because of the angle of the previous shot, so that both shots respond to one another. But it’s so quick you don’t even have the time to process the information and assess the angles during that chaos.

So... I have made a V2 for the English domestic mono on the front stage + the edited surrounds from the 7.1 core of the Atmos remix + the unfiltered LFE from the Atmos remix. I'll give it a test watch in a few days and assess if some scenes turn out better with the previous 5.1 remix to see if I should make a hybrid of the two on a scene by scene basis.
When this is done, I'll do the same for the international mono on the front stage.
Maybe I'll do the same with the Chace on the front stage, too.
And finally, I'll do the same with the French Chace on the front stage. Now there's a catch for the French dub: the surround from the 7.1 have English dialogue bleeding in them. I have attenuated them by -9 dB, so maybe it'll be enough to go unnoticed, or again, I'll see what's what on a scene by scene basis.

It doesn't exist in digital! I heard there's a new version coming out next year updated, and also one in english, you can follow it on Kickstarter.
