@zoidberg Do you remember those Fighting Fantasy gamebooks we had in the UK? The prices of some of those are crazy on eBay. Anything remotely cult/geek/collectible/retro has just gone through the roof
Yeah, they were worthless for a while, now they are not (although ebay sellers are over-estimating their value/gouging what they think they can get away with prices). Same with VHS, cassettes, cine film
That's the same player I have, @alleycat. However I was lucky enough to get mine for just £1 before prices hyperinflated!

Ive had an epic movie run! Greenland (2020) started it, then... Soul (2020), Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020) and My Octopus Teacher (2020)!
Greenland (2020) was a nice suprise! Tense and Emotional. The first 1hr 20 mins is gold.
Funny thing is for all the disputes you have with people saying the current BD of The Terminator looking correct or not, there will most likely be no dispute that—if the UHD rumor is true—will most definitely need to be regraded given Arrow's track record LOL
Arrow video rumoured to be doing a Terminator UHD which should be great, their Robocop BD was fantastic

This sequence stuck out to me from the surrounding theatrical shots when I watched v2.0. v2.1 will be the last version of this project.

Not sure if it's a dodgy 10-bit -> 8-bit / HDR -> SDR conversion or if the 4K version is also way too contrasty. But I can literally just crank the luma level way too high on the LaserDisc and it looks similar, so I'm assuming it's Not Right.
Man, has anybody had a good look at the newer master of THE DARK CRYSTAL? Screenshots of 1080p one just look like somebody cranked the contrast up to 11 and called it a day.

The 'DTS Edition' by Herald (oop) was released 2002. I didn't compare to the UHD yet but this has always been my first choise BLADE soundtrack.
I don't have the US DVD anymore, because the JAP DVD with Lossless DTS 5.1 is better. I think it's the Cinema DTS Mix, very powerful
@madmax87 Would the old US DVD possibly be a better bet for the Blade 5.1 AC-3 than the LD? Obviously no PCM, but for the 5.1?

Just checked my copy of Blade US - Laserrot on Side B very bad ? German PAL LD is fine, but I don't think there is any interest in the German dub
I've gotten at least three cracked discs over the last few months. Maybe USPS is just slacking on handling fragile items.
@alinskey Had that happen with one of mine, mate. Side 1 absolutely shining and pristine, side 2 cracked straight through. I now own 4 copies of the one I had arrive cracked. My brain is broken as well, apparently...
My copy of Blade on LD came in today just in time to capture and sync it to the UHD... and Side 2 is completely cracked. Cheapest copy on eBay is $60.

HAHAHA that was my reaction as well @zoidberg. Funnily enough syncing the LD digital mono to the uncut DVD (or at least I recall it as uncut) is on my to-do list for the imminent future

Maybe I'm not giving the author enough credit but it sure seems like they're massively oversimplifying to the point of misinformation, either because they feel a need to dumb it down (or maybe the editor does) or because they just straight up don't understand it themselves. EDIT: Actually I think it might be that they don't know what the hell they're talking about because... "This article was amended on 4 September 2020. An earlier version incorrectly said the dynamic range of TVs was “more extreme” than in cinemas. This has been corrected."
The bit about IMAX cameras having been stated as the explanation seems a little bit disingenuous, since the source it cites isn't really saying that at all: it just says that Nolan doesn't like doing ADR (which I already talked about above re. Bane in TDKR), and then explains that there is a challenge with using IMAX cameras for quiet dialogue moments so they used an alternative camera to shoot those. It doesn't say that the IMAX camera was used anyway thus dialogue is hard to hear...
