nir, did i catch you correctly earlier when you said you are from Israel?

Laws can be mended. The government is worried about popularity, and having the police use violence reflects badly on it. But the fact that everything is live streamed today goes both ways. When people are violent towards the police, it's common sense to use violence against them
The problem is tht putting some force above the law may bring problems afterwards in controlling that force...
Europe as a whole has been too lenient on terrorism and violence, it's a real shame, as we used to look up to it
My point is that the protestors know they won't be harmed, but if this was 30 years ago, they wouldn't dare even speak up
This goes beyond peaceful political opposition. While I agree that shutting down protests is anti democratic, it's not a very fine line between peaceful protests and violent riots. German police should know better, and the German government should not be afraid to meet violence with harsher violence
Is that really a good thing when political oppositions are forced down that aggressively? Yeah, theanarchist riots are extrme dumb.. also don't think that the big part of these anarchists are really political interested.. they were just interested in making chaos an mayhem...
I meant before the wall fell, when communist leaning protestors in the west were met with brute force.
search for 'Rostock-Lichtenhagen' August 92 ... and how pityful the police forces rected...
We have been following with some interest, it's absurd that the police has no deterring power against those anarchists. If this was 30 years ago....
Well, it may not be very hot in Germany weather wise, but politically, you're on fire!

well... I think GErmany is quite cool today.. about 20 °C ... yesterday it rained...
We're having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave! Oh, the temperature's rising, it isn't surprising, they certainly can, can-can!
We are literally melting here, as ice creams dropped on the hot asphalt, with temperatures near (if not above) 40°C... what's about you?
^ Do you mean flat as opposed to curved or just TV screens in general (as opposed to projectors)?
I don't think 4k is effective at 43" anyway, I think it's best at 55" and bigger.
I actually got myself a 1080 one
I don't really see the point of 4K when it comes to home media. Plus, the goal was to get something cheap

It's funny you said that because my 32" TV is dying and I just ordered a brand new 43" one

...bought them at a quite low price for the sets with one year in time differences...
My Sound System is build from two different, but still quite similar 5.1 systems from the same manufacturer... my receiver is 7.2 capable... so I can choose between 5 identical front, two dipole on the sides, 2 subs or the other setup: 3 irntical front, twi dipole sides, two in the backs a bit smaller than the front together with the two subs...
Two.. one with 300 Watt normal and short term up to 600 Watt, the other one 350 Watt normal power with short term up to 700 Watt
well.. with the right sound system, that bringes the signal lower 100hz to the sub of the system... I don't have 3 way speakers with build in passive woofers. So I have to use the external subwoofers for that.
it was the rotorwash scene just after the chopper lands in the meadow to drop off gleeson, there was some grass rusting in the bottom left of the screen, noise wise it came from my left foot
one scene from the headphone x track from the usa bd of ex machina blew me away, it actually had me looking at my left foot trying to work out where the noise came from, it was like being the camera or the screen itself
to be perfectly honest i think that film or the series would be perfect as a DTS Headphone X demonstration, the immersion levels on teh stuff i have already heard from that tech are intense
but i do get where you are coming from regarding the difference in 2.0 to 5.1 remasters, the 2.0 sounds far more focused and intense
I just noticed that there are some forign (non german) DVD releases of the DC with the non 5.1 Audio in german... old canadian columbian tristar release and Dutch DVD...
no problem.. i think most confution is that either Televition Cut and Theatrical Cut may be shortened to TC.

So, bigrob and I are talking about a different Version of that movie... Until the first german DVD release, that arrived this weekend, I never saw a Release of the Director's Cut in 2.0 only in 5.1
it's just the disc name, it is the tv mini series, the 6 episode version which came out before the film if i am not mistaken
bigrob an me are talking on the Theatrical Cut and the Director's Cut, not the Television Cut
What Kind of "uncut" you are referring? The Theatrical Cut, the Director's Cut or the Television cut?
not sure what you meant by that MrBrown, but there are 2 dts-hdma tracks in the Original Uncut version of Das Boot, the 5.1 remaster and a 2.0 track as well, both German obviously
@MrBrown Yeah the 2 disc BD from the USA has both DC and TC but I can't find any info if the TC is the original audio mix or the remixed audio from the DC
dont know if any of you peeps are interested but i kept the 2.0 track for Das Boot seeding on hdt, they uploaded it outside of the main file for the miniseries
@Bigrob: Wich TC release from US are you talking about? The BluRay? Do you have that, or are you searching?
IIRC, The DC of Das Boot had a whole new audio mix done for it back in the late 90's. I have the original 6 part series on BD from Germany which i think is the original audio (not watched it yet). I'm also tryign to find out if the theatrical cut in the USA 2 disc release has the original audio as well or if it's a cut down version of the DC with remixed audio.
Seem to be my first DC Version with the stereo audio on disc. The German and US DVDs and BDs of the DC all only have German 5.1 mixes... So, it was an ear opener feeling that U-boat approach in the title sequence...
Ah, thanks. So it is more a problem with the mix itself. The difference on the DVD really is extreme...
I have the old german flipper DVD of "Das Boot" DC.. and it offers 5.1 Dolby and 2.0 MPEG...
Mhm.. is it possible that a 2.0 MPEG DVD Audio Stream (224 kbps) seem to sound more powerful than a 5.1 Dolby mix?
Does anybody here have the old Taiwanese flipper DVD of 'Rumble in the Bronx' (without DTS audio)?
Mel Brooks once said he loved the scene where Fantozzi is trying to catch the bus "on the fly" https://youtu.be/YlbC3prznBs?t=2m39s , in that period Brooks was shooting or had recently shot Silent Movie so I can see why that scene had struck him.
Oh the guy's a panic!
All the great comics have timing and he's got it. I wonder how it would go with some "Yakety Sax" -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpc5_3B5xdk

I wonder how it would go with some "Yakety Sax" -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpc5_3B5xdkWell, sorta... he invented "Fantozzi", a character who entered in the Italian culture - check it out, can't say if the movies would retain the same bittersweet irony in another language, but you should give it a go!
Paolo Villaggio -- "Widely popular in Italy, Villaggio expressed his comic qualities through slapstick, satire and irony." Sounds like an Italian Benny Hill ... without the babes?
Mine is not that new and the colour timing was changed I thought but have not checked
nope, you can tell it's the same master, same soft video. The biggest tell is the shot when Arnie climbs the swiss embassy at the beginning. Look at the sides, slim black lines, like it's pillarboxed. They appear in the DVHS, the HDTV and this new webrip.
Yes, in a web dl. Starz web dl's always have a logo bobbing in and out during the programme.
Hmm. I shall persevere with my HDTV cap. Thanks for checking it out nirbateman
The True Lies web dl is open matte, but from the same master as the HDTV. It has a logo sometimes, and while it has a healthy bitrate, it is from the same 2003 master, so it doesn't look much better.
^^ it looks like True Lies and The Abyss are available as web-dl from amazon via starz. It'll be interesting to see if the compression is better
Anyone in New York for next friday? Robocop and Class of 1999 projected on 35mm http://prod3.agileticketing.net/WebSales...d0073268f4&
dont know if any of you already know, but seems like a web-dl of the theatrical cut of The Abyss appeared today. I know the bd is scheduled for release, but I have never seen that AMZN release before
Alien Covenant Korean HD rip is out on trackers, presented in open matte (16:9) instaed of cinematic 2.35:1
Those guys went Lucas in 2003 when they made the crap sequel and retimed the original to look like the crap sequel. They made only one good movie (Bound is crap too), forget about them they are f'd up crazied drug addicts
They just changed sex... They didn't mutate into George Lucas... So maybe they even would do a Matrix original memory revisit...

Was just kidding you guys ehehe. But the old 2004 remaster is the way the sisters want their film to look like. They have changed sex, to ask them to remaster the Matrix as it was originaly would be like asking them to be men again.
Oh yeah I definitely agree. I was talking about a new 6K scan of the negative or maybe of the interpositive for more truthful colors.
Tbh I wouldn't trust them with The Matrix at all. New master would be cool, but only done by a proper external studio, one that actually respects source material
Also, we talk about a new master... Not a George Lucas revision... A master may even be done by someone else, if he get in hold of the correct needed legal rights...
