I miss the laserdisc turtle on single sided discs
avatar
I must confess I do not watch many LDs lately, but, for example, I watched The Lion King with my daughter few days ago, and I recall I have never watched it before! Nice edition, good colors, I liked it!
avatar
I never watched the EP1 LD... I think the only LD I ever watched in its entirety was the German City of the living Dead LD... Why do I collect LDs anyway? Oh, yes... Interesting Releases...
avatar
EP1 LD rip and upscale? Yep! Robocop Criterion? Still not... Wink probably a DVD would be better suited for the upscale!
avatar
Damn mobile phone ... Just autocowrecked "upscaling" to "Upscaling-Robocop-Criterion"
avatar
Okay... The LD looks great. Was the ripping and Upscaling-Robocop-Criterion done by you?
avatar
If someone thinks laserdisc should not be used for projects, due to its inherent low video quality... http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/195979
avatar
I'll admit to being quite a fan of it lol
avatar
35mm print of Highlander 2 (but with Russian audio) on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vie...ID=EBAY-GB
avatar
Feels like two months lol
avatar
Happy New Year everyone!

@Stamper it looks good, how is it for encoding?
avatar
One of mine I already have fulfilled: I ordered a parrot Bebop 2 today... Smile Other resolutions including a new PC, maybe in Summer, and maybe some LaserDiscs...
avatar
@zoidberg, try the skull canyon!
avatar
I wish an Happy New Year to everyone! Heart Auguro un Buon Anno Nuovo a tutti!
avatar
Pardon the pun but what are people's fanresolutions for the new year? Mine's a faster PC
avatar
Hmm, many old people stay alive for xreason when they should have died long ago
avatar
It was suicide in a way.
avatar
Obviously mother left herself die after he daughter passed
avatar
I refuse to believe that this was a coincidence.
avatar
I hope that mother and daughter rest in peace – together.
avatar
Aww, Debbie Reynolds died... I liked her. Sad
avatar
After the daughter, now the mother... this fudging year is going too far seriously. 2016, please stop right now!
avatar
Carrie Fisher obit: "Drowned in moonlight, strangled by own bra."
avatar
Thanks for the correction guys.
avatar
Unfortunately she was right in the middle of shooting for another film!
avatar
Actually she finished them months ago. The shoot ended this summer.
avatar
She had just finished up her scenes for the next film too. Bless her for leaving us such a gift. We will not forget.
avatar
Who's next???
avatar
Sad sad days, are these... Sad
avatar
May the force be with you Carrie. We will miss you.
avatar
LET IT ALL END.
avatar
Oh... Sad just watching Force Awaken with my brother...
avatar
Au revoir my dear Carrie....
avatar
Rip Carrie Fisher
avatar
Same for Never Say Never Again, it's an official film, legally made.
avatar
It was official. It just wasn't the main the series. The producers had the rights thus = official film. A Not Official film would be if they made it without owning the rights.
avatar
In the old Casino Royale (well.. not an official Bond, but.. somehow it is still a Bond.. or so ^^), there where.. more Bonds.. Smile I just watched "The world is not enough" and saw that Moneypenny was played by "Samantha Bond" in the four Brosnan Bonds.. fitting name for an Actress in a Bond Movie.. Smile
avatar
OK it was just mentioned on T1; but including young "versions", they should be 6 or 7... a bit less than James Bond (for the moment) and Doctor Who (it had a reason at least!)
avatar
John Connor is Rusty Griswold
avatar
If in T1 was a flashbackforward.. Then there where 6 John Connor in 5 movies... T2 has two John's.
avatar
IIRC in T1 is in a flashback (or flashforward?!?) or in a deleted scene... can't remember, too many terminators - even if I fondly remember just the terminatrix...
avatar
Still pissed they canceled it.
avatar
And don't forget the.. Sarah Connor Chronicles Series.. that is another John Connor...
avatar
Is there a John Connor in the First Movie?
avatar
Is it just me that think it's kinda strange to have five different John Connor in five movies?!?
avatar
I cherished Christmas, when it wasn't so mainstream... Smile
avatar
Xmas was so yesterday....
avatar
*closes door slowly*
avatar
....no..........mister gigantic Austrian scary man.
avatar
Is some Sarah Connor here? Smile
avatar
Well... Smile
avatar
You're going around, shooting people and asking for Sarah Connor?
avatar
Somehow my Christmas is a bit Terminator themed, mentally. Smile
avatar
Honey, I Shrunk the Chrismas Tree Wink
avatar
Have an Alien Covenant Christmas Wink
avatar
Merry Xmas Smile
avatar
Merry Christmas
avatar
Merry Christmas one and all
avatar

avatar
Merry Christmas!
avatar
Started a thread about T2 color grading: https://forum.fanres.com/thread-1202.html - read on, there are also MUSE comparisons!
avatar
I wonder if they forgot the dialnorm on the ac3 track
avatar
An interesting video comparison. Now such a thing for the different Audio streams would be great...
avatar
some compariso between T2 LDs, BD, FS DVD and trailer: https://www.google.it/amp/s/blog.mercian...t-day/amp/
avatar
Well, I could always capture the audio bit-perfect and video, too, to use it as reference for a project... waiting for the disc in the mail! Wink
avatar
Nope zoidberg, there's info about the differences in color timing, but none about the sound. I just point to it because I used to own all versions of T2 on laserdisc, and back then, the soundmix of this one just killed all the other official T2 laserdiscs. I think there is both a Dolby Surround track + DD if I'm not mistaken?
avatar
Couldn't see a thread specific to this little nugget of info but if anyone is interested, the Italian BD of The Crow has a LPCM 2.0 audio mix of the Dolby Spectral Recording cinema mix by all accounts.
avatar
Is there any info about this variant ac3 mix online?
avatar
Now I would need a LD equipement to get the soundmix ripped...
avatar
Then you have the variant with the different colors and awesome soundmix
avatar
Oh.. I have the first one, according to the sleeve...
avatar
"Wrong" one with the regular colors is http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/00141/PILF...dgment-Day
avatar
this is the good one with the different colors http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/00140/PILF...dgment-Day
avatar
They have different sleeves
avatar
it's also the best sounding ac3 T2 ever made, for some reason
avatar
The squeeze ld was then reissued with all the colors like all the others ld masters
avatar
mhm.. damn.. I am sure I have not the first Edition... How could they be distinguished?
avatar
I have a copy at a friend's house, never managed to rip it to dvd
avatar
It's the japanese squeeze LD first edition
avatar
Never heard of the part that there is a LD release with a color timing Cameron was not happy with... Well.. for having Film Versions (8mm i.e.) I would need the playing equipement... Also I have no MUSE Player. So getting such versions would be pointless... (sadly Smile )
