but.. it's from japan.. so the movie itself would be about 40-50 bucks alone...
avatar
I would be happy with a non so displayed, but cheaper unrated BD release. Big Grin
avatar
Ok that Evil Dead display is several kinds of awesome
avatar
Looks like we're finally getting House on Blu-Ray, end of March. In fact, we're getting the whole quadrilogy
avatar
Seems as if japan is getting the unrated "The Evil Dead" (remake) Version on limited Blu: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B01N7V3QTF/
avatar
I do have cinema DTS for Fight The Future X-Files movie as well. Smile
avatar
LD does look much better
avatar
Made a quick comparison between X-Files movie DTS LD and DVD and, apart LD has a bit more red, the color grading seems the same... at the contrary, Alien Resurrection on DTS LD has a very different color grading - still not sure if its master used a silver retention processed print... but colors are so much better! Take a look at the comparison here: https://vimeo.com/202423916
avatar
Wow... Seems very strange in 4:3 (p&s I think...)
avatar
Mhmmm the "good, the bad and the ugly" US LaserDisc from 1983...
avatar
Thanks for the hint, Valeyard!
avatar
OMG I was wrong! It turns out you CAN still use WindowsXP AND get security updates: https://betanews.com/2014/05/26/how-to-c...ntil-2019/ I hope those of you *cough* ANDREA *cough* have tweaked your registry accordingly!
avatar
I think they used something similar to construct the 3D CG models in Tron. Back when computers were so expensive only the 5 richest kings of Europe owned them!
avatar
I always thought it looked like a vector based monitor setup. Nice. You can still get that type of physical interface, I use a similar setup for grading.
avatar
Great find, spoRv!
avatar
I wonder if it's possible to find out a similar controller to be uses with Windows: https://youtu.be/yMeSw00n3Ac?t=311
avatar
I swear blind I saw the lawyer get swallowed whole by the T-Rex in Jurassic Park at the cinema
avatar
I can't trust my memory either, I swear I saw an earlier Special Edition teaser which had no footage, which made no mention of the changes, and which used the same " One Last Time" tag line as the VHS releases. I remember being confused if it was referring to the video release or a theatrical re-release. I remember seeing the SE trailer before ID4 and finally understanding. I even swear I saw the earlier teaser around Christmas 1995, possibly before Jumanji. Only problem - the trailer does not exist. Usenet proves there was no trailer for the SEs until spring 1996, and it's the first version of the SE trailer we know
avatar
And he's a smart guy
avatar
I have to remind him every time it comes up. He also confuses the two movies and is never sure which he saw in the theater at a certain theater. If it was summer '64 I have no idea if it was a later-run Pink Panther or early in the run of A Shot in the Dark, he thinks the latter
avatar
Oh, and this is not an issue of unreliable childhood memory, because my dad was 24 when SW came out.
avatar
There is also debate among my father and aunt over whether my father actually saw Star Wars in the theater, my aunt recalled the exact theater where they saw it, but my dad insists he did not see it until it came to HBO
avatar
Those two things are incongruous, if he saw it in HBO it would have been uncut, he must have seen it on network TV
avatar
And also said he saw it on HBO
avatar
We were watching Fast Times at Ridgemont High once, my dad (who is not a prude or anything) was surprised to see Phoebe Cates' bare breasts, he had sworn it always cut away
avatar
But this is exactly why I am such a skeptic about supposed deleted scenes making it into a released version
avatar
Though he didn't have other people backing him up like with this
avatar
I had to prove to my father that Fabian and Shelly Fabares were never Mouseketeers once, he was shocked to find out because he had sworn they were
avatar
Doubtful anyone would want to sell that. The fella probably got buried with it.
avatar
PDB, I can CLEARLY remember renting "The Phantom Menace" on VHS and in it, there was no character named Jar-Jar Binks. I've spent the last five years or so hunting down that VHS with zero luck.
avatar
We have talked a lot before about people remembering non-existent scenes in movies but never remembering movies that never existed: http://www.newstatesman.com/science-tech...nk-it-does
avatar
TSmuxer is quick. I've never had problems with BD compliance. Can't eac3to mux to MKV?
avatar
Well, I used the same drive for TSmuxer as well, but it was 14x faster - or, MVKtoolnixGUI 14x slower, pick your poison! Big Grin If only I could be sure its output is 100% BD compliant, I'd use it exclusively!
avatar
I'll try to cap it in the next few days
avatar
Watched a little this morning getting ready for work
avatar
I have it on my DVR, Servo
avatar
MKVtoolnix can be slow, especially if reading/writing the same drive
avatar
Wasn't it on this morning?
avatar
Hey PDB, did you get Highlander theatrical?
avatar
For a 3m clip, x264 15mbps + ac3 192kbps: MKVtoolnixGUi 12m49s, TSmuxeR 51s! ts file about 3% bigger than mkv
avatar
Usually I use TSmuxeR to mux tests to .ts, but today I used MKVtoolnixGUI v9.6,0... is it normal it's ten to twenty times SLOWER than TSmuxeR?!?
avatar
Well, you are in good company... here in Italy, too, HD bitrate for FTA is quite low (around 5mbps) that is adequate for low motion films, but not for high action ones... and forget about grain!!!
avatar
I can already image you clicking through channels "HD? Mate, this load of **** isn't even proper SD!" (which is what really pisses me off. they advertise HD and UHD while broadcasting potato)
avatar
I dunno, we get some pretty crunched HD channels in the UK
avatar
Sweet Cthulhu! Must be a typo.
avatar
5mbps, that doesn't seem like very good video quality for HDTV.
avatar
The second half of the first one the censored version?
avatar
Just recorded Kill Bill Vol.2 open matte from HDTV. 1080i 5 mbps and 25 fps with logos and some scenes hard subbed. Also have second half of the first movie. Just saying in case anyone is interested.
avatar
How else would you do it to get it in 1080? It bothers me when some digital stuff only exists downconverted to 720
avatar
You think ActionMax, ThrillerMax, 5StarMax, etc. are copy never too?
avatar
Well the Cinemax channels are running it
avatar
I can do streams for other channels just not those
avatar
No not for HBO or Cinemax. Both are set copy never
avatar
you can capture the stream without loss?
avatar
I'll try to get a copy of it also
avatar
I need to first see if I need an HDCP stripper
avatar
Though I have no idea how Cinemax handles logos, it may still be useful to capture to cover up logos, since Encore didn't put logos on perpetually...
avatar
The opening credits then run fine but I am afraid that some time during the next 2 hours will be more stuttering
avatar
My recording will probably stutter either randomly or regularly on playback, I know the Fox logo is stuttering
avatar
avatar
and it pops up on the various channels next month
avatar
On Tuesday it's on ThrillerMax
avatar
Is it on anytime soon servo
avatar
Just asking because of a Highlander theatrical cut project that's being discussed. I have an old Encore HD airing on my DVR but that DVR is dying
avatar
hey does anyone here have the means to record/capture Cinemax in HD
avatar
@MrBrown that's your weekend viewing sorted!
avatar
Aw, John Hurt died. I liked him. Sad
avatar
Yeah, got 36 German LaserDiscs, and 1 US LaserDisc at eBay... Smile nothing real special, but some cool stuff. i.e.: Raiders of the lost Ark with German Title card "Jäger des verlorenen Schatzes"...
avatar
Changing topic: connection between Star Wars and Matrix: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-11-1...the-clones
avatar
But, seriously, adding all these audio tracks helped my projects to be spread over the net, and not only on the English based countries... more languages available, more people that enjoy my projects!
avatar
If the BD-50 would cost a penny, and my upload speed would be 10x faster, I think I'll include more languages as well! Big Grin
avatar
I speak English men jag är uppvuxen i Sverige. Anyone else who speaks Swedish?
avatar
But your language skills explain, why you get the multilingual releases that great done, spoRv
avatar
German and English, but I have no problems to order DVDs and BDs on French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and so Websites, even if they have no English language option...
avatar
I only speak English, French and a tad of Spanish to be honest.
avatar
I just happened to recognize it ... my grandmother was Polish.
avatar
I have no idea, LOL.
avatar
Koniec!
avatar
I rozumje dwa procent! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
avatar
Tylko jeden procent... Wink
avatar
Andrea, you speak Polish too?
avatar
Hast du eine frosche?
avatar
Sorry guys, but who does NOT speak AT LEAST the main five european languages nowadays? I speak quite well in English (I hope so!), je parle Francaise comsi comsa, Verstehen minimal Deutsch, entiendo un poco de Español, parlo perfettamente Italiano (ovviamente), i ja też mówić po polsku (tylko jeden lub dwa procent)
avatar
Anyway the Arrow release of The Thing should be pretty sweet, especially if they do a Limited Edition
avatar
That is most certainly not what I meant.
avatar
So it smells left?
avatar
Something doesn't smell right.
avatar
Guys let's keep this off topic
avatar
We have an off topic section now?
avatar
Off topic really earning its keep now.
avatar
@MrBrown Sounds more like I should campaign for him to adopt me instead.
avatar
@taas007 Your child would speak 5 different european languages, if it would be a [spoRv] release... and it would have a better encode.. so.. better looks...
avatar
spoRv should do everything! Well..... not, you know, like EVERYTHING. I would like my first child to be mine but you know.. everything else is fine.
avatar
We can only hope so. Maybe without the supposed sharpening. Perhaps we should send spoRv to supervise the grading?
avatar
i bet same master as shout but maybe better encoding?
avatar
Arrow are releasing John Carpenter's The Thing later this year
avatar
This must be what happens when you master HDR correctly.
avatar
This is why 4K is a bad idea! Wink https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuVT3rK2O3c

Simple, but nice, article about Criterion company: http://oi66.tinypic.com/jtt0fq.jpg http://oi67.tinypic.com/24bneoo.jpg

Omg, Becky, the new Star Wars has a title. *sir begins to mix. A lot.*
