Did they forgot to dub that scene in the children choir? Because it has German hardsubs on that part.
avatar
Alright, thanks
avatar
I'll upload it tomorrow evening... it is about 1 gB in size and would take about 3-4 hours...
avatar
I guess it won't hurt to try Smile
avatar
If you want to check out, if the german DVD provides some help, I may upload the ripped Version, and if the DVD can be usefull, I can upload a disc rip as soon as I have it at hand.
avatar
Could just put frames with audio from other LD rip in that place, but it could 'sound' odd
avatar
The English dub I have is also from same transfer, so I guess I'll have to find a way somehow to fix these audios Tongue
avatar
Yes it is the same introduction with the fancy "A Better Tomorrow" writing
avatar
I'll check, as soon as I find the rip...
avatar
Is German DVD same International transfer (except missing choir scene)?
avatar
Yeah.. saw it with the "A Better Tomorrow" writing... I think its quite a coole Title font for that movie...
avatar
Found the disc, will upload somewhere and hit you up
avatar
The bottom one is that German LD on YT vid I uploaded Big Grin
avatar
I can check what Intro GErman LD is using.. I think I have some ripped Version on a HDD somerwhere around...
avatar
I'll try to find my disc and if not I'll just redownload from ADC>
avatar
But yeah, I guess I'll just put that German LD capture as extra on the disc, because it's gonna be rather impossible to sync that to BD.
avatar
that ould be nice...
avatar
I can upload it to you on Mega or something.
avatar
UK LD uses same intro as HK.
avatar
somehow I need to get in touch with that festival cut rip of BitH
avatar
seems as if the german LD used the international intro version... I do not know what the UK LD does...
avatar
Overall, I feel pretty young in regards to everyone around here (FanRes) and ADC.
avatar
It's all nice and in sync, just go to bad on the shot of his back Tongue
avatar
thats making me older than you.. I am from 1981 Smile
avatar
And yeah, that German LD is completely some different transfer even - https://youtu.be/S3HJYmWdddA
avatar
I am from 1997 myself, but there's bootleg VHS capture on AsianDVDClub from that cut.
avatar
ah.. no.. too young for seeing the festival cut.. Smile
avatar
This is the "mystical" Festival Cut of John Woo's masterpiece; shown in 1990 during a Film Festival in Finland. Unfortunately deemed for too long and therefore never released! Joy Sales / Fortune Star made an attempt of reconstructing this cut with their DVD release. IMHO they failed! Why? They simply re-inserted some of the deleted scenes in to the theatrical cut
avatar
No, the original festival cut, that one's missing scenes.
avatar
the one on the hong kong remastered DVD release with the reinserted scenes in lower quality?
avatar
Have you seen festival cut of Bullet in the Head?
avatar
Gotta love the censorship, eh?
avatar
the german LD was the only "on disc" Version in GErmany containing the singing child choir... all DVDs missing that scene.
avatar
No, no, original mono cantonese track from Japanese LD.
avatar
Oh wait.
avatar
Oh yeah, it's English then.
avatar
I asked regarding the non german Versions.. because AFAIK there is no German audio with the original music used,
avatar
This only has German dub on the disc.
avatar
avatar
which soundtrack version are you using.. afaik there are two different music versions with the cantonese and/or english Audio...
avatar
I have the German DVD release, If you want to try that... but not before the mentiond "I am home" Day Smile
avatar
I think I won't be adding German dub from it into the project, as its missing frames etc.
avatar
ugh, that German LD is horror to work with
avatar
I am no fanb of downloading stuff... as being from germany, it really could get someone into trouble using Torrent and such stuff...
avatar
avatar
It's on ADC.
avatar
Or you can download it somewhere, I think it's removed from ADC because of stupid rule that forbids uploading Blurays without untouched video stream.
avatar
And real HD transfer that has been fixed and color corrected.
avatar
It's great release, with reworked subtitles, LD audio and lots of extras.
avatar
It's custom release made by fans, look for their Facebook page and you can order through there.
avatar
you know where to get the Hong Kong Rescue Hard Boiled? No luck at ebay...
avatar
It could be missing, I just started working with it Tongue
avatar
At least it is not missing complete scenes, as the FSK 16 rated DVD...
avatar
Looks like German LD is missing frames through-out whole movie, how nice.
avatar
ah.. okay... I have the Taiwan DVD with that version... too bad Bootlegs are quite expensive
avatar
Hong Kong Rescue already did Hard Boiled Smile
avatar
If you ever do a "Hard Boiled" Project: I have a low quality, burned in subtitled 131 minutes Version...
avatar
I would like to put my hands on that Deltamac, as only ones I have are 5.1 Mandarin.
avatar
I think I have the Anchor Bay and Deltamac. If you need them I can check
avatar
Original HK Laserdisc release apperantly has mono mandarin dub, but it's nearly impossible to get it anywhere nowadays.
avatar
Old Deltamac DVD seemed to got Mandarin in Dolby Digital 2.0, but every later release seems to got the 5.1 Dolby...
avatar
Only Mandarn in 5.1 on Fortune Star DVD and 6.1 (According to ofdb.de) on Hong Kong BD...
avatar
Sure thing, thanks a lot Smile
avatar
Could be that I have the japanese BD trilogy box set.. I will check, when I am back at home August 19. give me a PM, so better chance that I do not forget it...
avatar
Or maybe mandarin dub in mono on any of discs? Big Grin
avatar
Do you, by any chance, have Japanese BD? I would like to include subtitles from it in my custom.
avatar
What's the thing with the Anchor Bay DVD? I do not have it, just have two or three different UK DVDs, the German DVD, the Hong Kong Trilogy Box set... one or two LDs (I think the german, and UK one) and the old BDs...
avatar
I just ordered the original BD at yesasia, but if your project is complete, I'd love to lern, how to get it. Smile
avatar
And no, I do not have Anchor Bay DVD, could you share it with me? Smile
avatar
I uploaded it to AsianDVDClub if you want to download it.
avatar
ABT 4K remaster? Where to get it?
avatar
I remember I had to convert my copy of PTU from 24 to 23.976
avatar
Its not really a standard for BD or HDTVs
avatar
Even modern productions on video like Arri and Reds shoot in 23.976
avatar
It should be 23.976, the only time you should have true 24fps is with film
avatar
Colek, do you have the Anchor Bay DVD of ABT?
avatar
@PDB Just wondering, is there anything inherently wrong with 24fps on Blu-ray?
avatar
Yeah you are right, I have a bunch of the Fortune Stars
avatar
Don't argue with their logic, I mean come on, they sold upscaled DVDs as "HD Blu-ray"
avatar
Sweet I'd love to see it when done...but in 2016, ten years into the Bd format, they made a 24fps disc?
avatar
And I got English subtitles from one friend at AsianDVDClub, that are even better than Optimum UK ones.
avatar
Overall I will be making new Bluray with all the extras, audios, subtitles that I have and I could've found, also the Laserdisc video captures as extra.
avatar
Yep, the new 4K remaster.
avatar
Are you syncing to the new BD?
avatar
And first track is synced, from Herald LD Big Grin 3 more LDs to go.
avatar
By the way, IcePrick, I am RealThunderBolt from the ADC.
avatar
Goddamn 24 FPS Big Grin
avatar
Yeah, thanks for the tip, I managed to sync video from the Herald LD to the video from Bluray, frame-frame accurate.
avatar
@Colek If it's the remastered A Better Tomorrow BD you're trying to sync to, the video on the BD runs at 24 fps, whereas the LD (probably) runs at 23.976. Therefore, adjusting the speed would be a good idea. There's also probably not the exact same amount of frames in both releases, so some edits here and there will be most likely be necessary.
avatar
I can't get any of these tracks synchronized easily, because either somewhere in the middle it will drift off, even though start and end are good
avatar
Any tips on syncing Laserdisc audios? Tongue https://www.dropbox.com/s/f6gi902tjrw61y...0.png?dl=0
avatar
Just watched the movie. My LD is sourced on a theatrical print if that can be of any use.
avatar
Good thing I didn't try to buy the Super 8 print I found Wink The Abyss is one sweet movie.
avatar
Well for me, Abyss is one of the rare classics I haven't seen Big Grin But I've always wanted to watch it that's why I was super happy to find it on LD!
avatar
I haven't seen many classic movies, somehow there is just never enough time Smile
avatar
Good lord guys! How can this be?
avatar
Never seen it either Smile
avatar
You haven't seen the Abyss yet!! Wow your in for a treat. There is an HDTV cap (newer transfer) somewhere that is the theatrical. Though i really like the Directors cut.
avatar
Glad to hear about it! Funny thing is that I haven't seen this movie yet but just found it on laserdisc for like $1 a week ago along with Apocalypse Now Smile
avatar
'bout damn time
