Hello i am new to these forums, so i apologize if this post doesn't belong here.
I have been trying to use AvsPmod and the avisynth plugin auto overlay to create a hybrid of 2 different aspect ratios of the same film.

My question is, when i run the AVS script, will the end product look like what i see in the video preview? Or does it do a few "passes" to attempt to correct for the mismatched or imperfect frames?

Forgive my ignorance, i'm just not sure how everything works.

It processes a few frames per second, and some of them line up perfectly, others do not. does that mean my settings are incorrect?
Do i just wait for the preview to complete? at the rate it's going, it'll take a week or 2 to complete. 

Any help from people who have experience using this software would be tremendous.

What you see is what you get, pretty much. It's possible your settings aren't ideal, but a lot depends on the source. If your sources are from the identical master with identical colors, yeah I'd definitely fine-tune settings. If the colors are rather different from separate masters, you will often have to fine tune for individual shots, for example by changing gamma etc. Another way I've found helpful at times is to use an edge detection filter and overlay those enhanced detected edges with the image itself to aid the overlay, since brightness levels can vary and especially shots that have gradients can have extreme mismatches.

It's moreso that they are different sources. (one is an web-dl and one is the blu ray)


I can't even get half the frames to line up. I've been trying to create sort of a "broad-compatibility-jumping-off-point" style avs script to use with a few different projects i want to do, but it seems like it requires an incredible amount of tweaking in order to get it even sort of close. Just gives me a huge level of respect for the people who create hybrid versions of things.
