Yeah, I went through that thread for a refresher. Disclord (who usually knew his stuff) started by suggesting that the theatrical DTS mix was 4.0, though this was refuted by one of the film's sound mixers who said that they worked in 5.1 (and the folks who took a good look at Jetrell Fo's cinema DTS and found 5.1 properly discrete tracks).
That said, the engineers would have mixed down to 4.0 channels for Lt Rt matrixed Dolby SR and DTS Stereo (which may be where the confusion arose). If you're going for a DL BD (as suggested in that other thread), go for it... if not, I don't think anyone's going to complain about theatrical authenticity when the original DTS track is present and correct.
