Too late... it crashed last night... but I'm doing it (again)! Hope this time everything will be fine - I managed to move the files from the guilty volume (which is a mere partition of that big HDD) and formatted it...

Sorry to hear about the problems you've been having Andrea, it used to happen to me all the time when I lived in a place where power cuts were a pretty common occurance, I'd wake up to find my PC dead and the encode lost. Very annoying indeed Sad

Thanks! Now it seems everything is OK, and I *MUST* finish this ASAP, as everything is almost finished - apart the final encoding... but too many other things to do... wish me luck! Wink

OK, time to release this project... I have all the foreign languages I use as usual (French, German, Italian, Spanish) plus two English one, the fixed Cinema DTS, and the analog laserdisc track, captured at 48KHz...

Should I include the latter (1.5GB), discard it to gain space for a better video, or compress to, let's say, 192kbps AC3?

Answer in the poll, three days before the final decision!

In my opinion, discard it. You don't want to sacrifice video for a stereo track on a movie that was native 5.1, you have enough tracks as is.

...I was pretty sure about your opinion, and I agree... still curious to know what the other members think, though!

Think that 1.5GB used for the video will increase a lot the average bitrate - and consequently the final video quality...
