Interesting finds!
So, what's about video, in comparison to BD/DVD - color grading, framing, cuts etc?

Audio is important, of course, but sometimes HDTV recordings have good surprises, video wise... if you have some spare time, take a look at caps-a-holic and screenshotcomparison, search for those movies, and maybe you could discover some with different colors, or open matte, or... who knows?
Stakeout is a nice movie, it's a pity it isn't on Blu-ray yet - but you are here, so someone could decide to start a preservation project about it!

The 'burbs had an Arrow release on Blu Ray with PCM 2.0 soundtrack. Can't really beat that! I'm a big 'burbs fan

had a brand new 2K scan as well using vaulted materials from Universal with Joe Dante's approval. You can't even compare it to the Universal released mess of a BD.
huge fan as well. the BD is one of my all time favourite releases.

I jumped from VHS to DVD and then directly to Arrow Blu Ray. Did it have a bad first BR release?

yep. But both the universal and Arrow version were released within six months of each other. All other BD versions around the world (USA, Austraila, Germany and funny enough the UK where it three seperate BD releases, Arrow special edition, Arrow bare bones edition and Universal release)

Bluray-review.com begins its review of the video in a comical way:
"The 'Burbs occasionally looks good on Blu-ray"
