My hybrid open matte releases
#51
Looks like there is an om release of Expendables 1 on the russian site! It looks cropped sightly on the sides, but more up and bottom image.

Started to test the script, and it seems really good! Thanks a lot, random.next!!! Ok

I'm started with Battlefield Earth Eek but, for some reason, I should invert the sources, or it would not work:

Code:
OM=widescreen_source
WS=openmatte_source

config=OverlayConfig(subpixel=2)
OverlayEngine(OM.ConvertToY8(), WS.ConvertToY8(), configs=config,editor=false)
OverlayRender(OM.ConvertToYV24(), WS.ConvertToYV24(), debug=false, noise=10,\
upsize="Spline64Resize", mode=3, gradient=10,coloradjust=1,width=1920,height=1080,opacity=0.5)
ConvertToYV12()
return last

NOTE: sources should be mod8, or they would not work.

I tried it with Harry Potter 8, BD and WEBdl, with no success so far... Sad

@random.next: I'd start a new thread about the avisynth script itself, in the technical forum, leaving this one for your own hybrid releases; what do you think?

mod8 is not necessary.
If you invert the sources then you will get widescreen instead of open matte with mode=1.
Maybe you should specify aspectRatio because it is fixed by default.

I think it will be useful.

Too late: https://fanrestore.com/thread-1974.html Big Grin

I added the translated readme page in html, with few fixes here and there; it would be great if you may take a look at it, and eventually add some more info!

EDIT: forgot to mention: how to get the best (perfect?) alignment? And, is it possible to get a list of cropping and position values, so one could eventually modify that list to fix problematic alignments? THANKS!

Neat, been holding off on watching Departed. I had some Russian HDTV open matte recording, but it seemed to be sourced from really old SD transfer I think? What were you using for that one?

Nice, I have some new recording of Lord of the Rings from Polish HDTV, might experiment slightly after my exams are done Wink

Good, is it full open matte or there are many pan&scan scenes?

Not entirely sure about that, you'd need to ask Sporv as he was working on Open Matte LOTR some time ago, but I don't think it took off? He had some sources though. Or maybe he'll revisit soon? Smile
