[Help] how to extract DTS-ES 6.1
#11
Seems as if your DTS-ES 6.1 track is matrixed.
It is in your MediaInfo stats:

Format profile : 96/24 / ES Matrix / Core

Don't know... because it's true it is
Format profile : 96/24 / ES Matrix / Core
but also
Channel(s) : 7 channels / 7 channels / 6 channels
so, why the latter info?
*Maybe* 96/24 = 7 channels (discrete), ES Matrix = 7 channels (matrixed, possibly 48kHz and/or 16bit), Core = 6 channels (downmix, and I guess 48/16 too)

I'll be happy to know that indeed the track is 5.1 matrixed, so the actual conversion works.
But, in this case, I'd like to find out a proper DTS-ES 6.1 discrete file, to test it.

The Fellowship of the Ring EXTENDED Blu-ray dts HDMA track has a 6.1 discrete core, if that helps you.
Gladiator old R1 NTSC DVD also has a discrete dts 6.1 track. It's been resynced to an old HDTV open matte, maybe you have that one.
Face/Off US Blu-ray has one, too.
Top Gun Blu-ray dts HDMA 6.1 track has a 6.1 discrete core.

The core has 6 channels in a 5.1 mix... Doesn't it?
If it would be Discrete 6.1 it should have 7 channels...

Maybe we could get a proof of that, if someone makes a MediaInfo scan with a known 6.1 ES discrete track.

Still can't understand why mine has three entries for both format profile and channel(s)...

Probably for compatibility reasons. The same goes for DTS 6.1 or 7.1 HDMA tracks. Gradually, it's HDMA, DTS ES core, regular DTS depending on what your equipment can decode. I guess that'd explain the 3 entries. Nevertheless, if you extract the track using DVD Decrypter, it should be the same direct copy after extraction.

Maybe different MediaInfo Software Versions or settings.
