It's probably too contrasty and not as colorfull on Default. You can see that on top of being full 16/9 instead of 1.85:1, the UHD offers more picture left and right, too!

Some shots look similar, but when it's different, I like how the conversion turns out. It's more colorfull: warmer on the old Murph shot, more color diversity in the flying shot and inside the cockpit, or in the kitchen scene for example. It appears to be more detailed in the bright areas, too. Framing is a bit different in 35mm but you lose more in IMAX scenes.

Saving Private Ryan settings from German forum (hue:0,Sat:1.3,Bright:0,cont:0.98), not sure if they are any good for you but the default settings on your conversion look ok too.

Here, we lose details in the highlights, but the guy has a projector on him, so nothing to be alarmed here.






















I like a lot more the Ripbot conversion of the remaster. It's like there were 2 different cinematographers on that movie! The Christian Bale shot is like watching the theatrical cut of Payback desaturated to look as if it was black and white, and then the Straight Up director's cut with colors!

I agree. Some dull shots turning into beautifull colorfull ones remind me of Batman Begins. Now I haven't watched the whole movie, so hopefully, it won't suffer from horrendous smoothing DNR that'll destroy complete shots.

I went up to 1.25 in saturation to approximate the one on the Blu-ray. There's definitely more red on the Blu-ray.

This is where I'm at right now on Clear and Present Danger. I went directly with the same settings I used for Patriot Games : hue=0,sat=1.25,bright=0,cont=1.07

I'm not into that movie so much, so I don't know how it's supposed to look. Plus I've read that previous releases were very inconstistent with each others, so... Plus it's the first Lionsgate I'm converting, so I don't have tweaking references to try to match. The Lionsgate logo seems to have turned out fine. I don't know if the orange in the opening credits is orange enough. Contrast-wise it seems okay, with the time and location cards being white enough.
