Blu-ray burner drives and region coding?
#1
Is region coding an issue when ripping Blu-rays?

I am considering buying one to rip audio tracks (mostly original mixes) and archiving them for project use. But I have a mix of Region A and B (mostly the latter) discs.

No it isn't unless you're burning it back to BD-R. Just use MakeMKV (free) to read the disc.

I think, if you have the tools to rip a BluRay, you also have the tools of ignoring any RegionCoding. Either that, or the tools just ignore the RegionCoding.

Thanks.

I might as well ask. What are the best brands/models for burners? I am only looking at external USB ones.

I have a Pioneer, and am very satisfied...
Before that I had a Sony, that was good, also.

The Pioneer does not need additional power supply, except when plugging to a cell phone...
