Netflix HD captures?

Maybe a separate thread for cataloging all the titles might be a good ideaWink

Maybe a thread that includes iTunes, Hulu, Vudu, and such other places? They could become very helpful with even issues that only need a simple touch.

Nothing in particular at the moment. Back in November, when there was something, there was a member that contacted me via PM and helped me out with the film I wanted to have captured.

Although, honestly, I would love to have the "Casper's Scare School" series (NOT the film) captured in 1080p. Yes, there is a 720p web-dl version (I think it was even thrown on MS recently) but a proper 1080p full HD copy would be freakin sweet. I'm sure there are other things, but I got too much going on to remember right now.

iTunes stuff is usually easy to acquire, unless they are older transfers (which were usually superior and prior to DNR) although the Russians usually make those easy to find as well.

Hulu hasn't had any "unique" transfers that I have seen (this doesn't mean that I am dismissing it or that I doubt that they have "unique" stuff, I just haven't seen it myself)

Vudu... Now there is one that I wish I saw people capturing more often. The quality is usually pretty decent, good bitrates, lot less compression artifacts than iTunes, lots of "unique" titles available in 1080p that are not available elsewhere, and a lot of films on there do NOT use the commercially available DNR'ed to death transfers

Please keep in mind that this is a PUBLIC thread and we need to be careful as to how the rest of this thread proceeds, due to the "delicate" nature of the topicWink

Maybe we can make it a private thread?

I hate to break it to you but I've been capturing a ton of stuff from Vudu and they ALL look exactly like the iTunes versions. And it's a HELLUVA lot easier to grab iTunes than it is to get Vudu.

That's disappointing and makes me wonder about the Vudu captures I have seen that were clearly better than the iTunes counterpart, but this was a while back and only a couple of titles. Either way, there is some stuff on Vudu that I haven't seen elsewhere.

Bumping an old thread I know... I just picked up an Avermedia Extremecap. Until I get my system sorted to be able to capture 1080/60, I've been capping some kids shows for my son at 720p. MediaInfo reports the resulting MP4 as 30fps. I had assumed it would be 29.97. When everything is working correctly I intend to cap some movies that aren't out on bluray yet and planned to convert to 23.976 assumimg through avisynth. I just was looking for clarification on the fps. Thanks.

You can capture with atomos ninja 2 for example in 1080 24p.
But there is a method to get the original files, but the only guys who know how, doesn't tell it.

Which is very frustrating. I've been trying like hell to figure out how to download video streams from Hulu for weeks now to preserve the episodic broadcast versions of the Futurama DVD movies with no success.

Many streaming providers like Hulu know about ppl downloading their streams and always update their streaming encryption methods as it's pretty much an arms race between the providers and the debuggers, so its a crapshoot in regards to finding a stream downloading tool that still works properly.

I feel your pain Chainsaw Ash. Hulu once had the shorter US cut of Quadropheina (the BDs are of the full length UK version) with a rare World Northal logo intact about two years ago, and I tried every single tool known for downloading Hulu streams and even RTMPDumpHelper but nothing worked at all. When Hulu announced all Criterion titles including that one were going down, I got frantic as FK, so my last ditch effort was to cap it via my PS3 to a HDMI splitter going to by HDMI recorder box and it was a success! Though later on, that version popped up in better quality on ShoutFactory TV and TubiTV (which are much easier to get stuff from if you follow tutorials), so all that work and sweat thou...

I'd imagine if you're too late when these TV edits of the Futurerama movies go off Hulu, i'm sure some other provider will have it in better quality as alot of things usually reappear that way. Otherwise, I highly recommend going the hardware capping route as it will end up saving you pain, money, and software possibly messing up your PC in the long run.

EDIT: I saw your post on Original Trilogy as well, you mention you've never had any experience with hardware capping and only have a laptop right-o? I can help you through PM instead of derailing this thread and having mods nag at us.
