It's funny, we used to have IMAX enhanced versions of film free with the original film.

For example, Total Recall original NTSC disc: side one is the film in widescreen, side two is the film in IMAX.

Same for Cobra and countless others!

Hell, we have IMAX enhanced version of T2 in R5 russian DVD, or The Abyss SE in R1 DVD.

It's all about labels.

I have Top Gun in IMAX already (original R2 DVD release), and even Top Gun in early IMAX enhance double sided disc (original NTSC release).

IMAX is the new THX now IMHO. Just a badge of approval.

Yes, it means more image. The rest is all fluff. Open Matte was always IMAX and all original films on VHS were IMAX sized.

Here's an observation that i made comparing the Special Collectors Edition to the 4K edition, The Paramount Logo (A Gulf + Western Company Variant) is missing at the end credits of the 4K version so it runs 9 seconds shorter than the original, i guess being due to having the titles and the credits redone, and the fact that they are now a ViacomCBS company!

But, that aside, syncing the Original 70mm mix, the DTS Remix from the previous Blu Ray, the Laserdisc PCM, or the Dolby Surround 2.0 mixes from the previous DVD's should be a breeze!

That’s a good thing to hear, though the Paramount “Blue Mountain” logo cut from the end, the 3D/2K remaster had no Paramount 100th anniversary logo at the end as well on digital versions. (I don’t know about the actual 3-D Blu-ray itself.) Must be Tony Scott's last wish to Cut the Paramount logo at the end.

I guess it’s a modified version of the color grading used in the year 2010 scan/2012 remaster You have to accompany the HDR grading, if Tony was still alive then he would’ve supervise this transfer.
