Why this movie hasn't been released on Blu-ray is beyond me. It's pretty good and has a great cast.
So did this movie appear in HD in it's OAR of 2.35:1 anywhere or are we stuck with cropped version, like the one from Amazon?

It turns out that I'm not the only person who is interested in this question) I checked and check all the appearing versions of the Amazon, unfortunately everywhere the crop is 16: 9

Another 90s classic, Dead Presidents was the same for a long time. No 2:35 release. Only cropped 1:85 but then magically an OAR release surfaced in HD format. In the early 80s there were 2:35 LTBX releases of eg Fulci movies on VHS but I guess things have not progressed much since then. Soon there may be Pan & Scan versions again ...

It's crazy this movie has not had a decent release!
I loved this film on VHS and Ive been holding out for a re watch for almost 20 years!
Was there even a decent DVD release?
Does it have rights issues or something?

I've just spent the last couple of days trying to overlay the HDTV image onto the DVD and I've given up. The DVD image is skewed/distorted when compared to the HDTV but it differs from shot to shot. I was getting it lined up perfectly for one shot, played around with the luma and overlaid the DVD color, looked ok, but then checked another shot and the images weren't lining up by quite a bit. Whilst I like this movie I don't like it enough to spend months manually adjusting it shot by shot! So unfortunately the cropped HDTV seems like the best option for now. I also suspect that the DVD (well at least the Region 1 DVD) is a port of the laserdisc.

Bummer. I thought that might happen lining up the dvd to the hdtv. Sounds like a nightmare. Thanks for trying alleycat
