88 films is doing a fantastic job. I just wish they could include the US cuts of some of those movies like Operation Condor where Jackie actually does the english dub

I have this 1:30 hour short version in good quality. There is very good DTS HD sound but I can't watch it, I'm used to the original and all this background music.

As great as the 88 Films releases are (especially their extended cuts and original sound mixes), they've still got their flaws. In particular, their colour grading is often extremely flat. Contrast is low and colours have that generic Rec709 look, with a cartoon vibrancy like a modern TV advert, and don't resemble a photochemical film print look. The colours on their release of The Young Master (one of my favourite Chan films) in particular looked quite artificial - lime green trees and near-violet sky:

Compared to the more accurate colours on previous DVDs - stronger contrast, less saturated trees and less purple sky:

Obviously the image is far superior in pretty much every other way on the 88 Films remaster though. Maybe one shouldn't be so picky after decades of these films looking awful on home video, but still, with a bit more care these new releases could've been perfect.

Bit of a bump, but recently I've been watching some of his movies and I realized that I own a handful of old Dimension DVDs of these movies including Operation Condor (and Armor Of God) so it should be possible for me to rip it if anyone is interested in that. Personally as much as it is nice to hear Jackie dub himself, the dub overall is just terrible and I'd rather just listen to the Cantonese audio if given the choice.

On the note of the 88 Films remasters of his movies, I'm not a fan either cause most of them sport a very low-contrast look that I'm not a fan of. On the note of Operation Condor, there was a Japanese blu-ray that had a very strong print look that is a stark contrast in comparison to its other home media counterparts. I personally don't own a copy of this but there are images and clips floating around online.

Here at the 12:02 mark, this version is being showcased with a bit of explanation about it.
And this Facebook video post (which doesn't seem to display right in this embed on my screen but maybe it's an error on my end only).

I'm not a huge fan of the movie admittedly, but it'd definitely interesting to see a regrade project be done one day (whether it'd be by my hands or someone else's). Maybe also attempt at cobbling together the Dimension dub for one of the longer cuts (though it'd definitely just be an experiment than anything I'd seriously consider watching with).

I have a Japanese Blu Ray with OC2, it has the largest frame filling in comparison with other editions, but alas, the picture is too dark, in which a lot of details disappear, especially in the scenes in the bunker and nasty Japanese subtitles that cannot be turned off.
Also Scandinavian Blu Ray used old English dubbing in DTS HD 2.0 format for the theatrical version 1:46
Another interesting point is that the Scandinavian edition has exactly the same video from 88film, but it was released 1.5 years earlier.
Another personal remark that I have been expecting for many years, at the very end of the credits with unsuccessful takes, there was a moment when Jackie rolls along with the column and, jumping off, falls to his knees and begins to dance, it was a scene from the most complete version of 88film
