Thoughts on the trailer?

I have to say it looks better than I expected (I expect nothing these days), but I still think it won't be good.
Some of the graphics in the trailer look rather underwhelming imo even compared to the original. Like the one where the city is made out of numbers around him. Looks like a video game.

Have you seen the 'leaked' plot? Just reading it put me to sleep.

Oh I didn't know that. Just watched the spoiler video. Sounds pretty bad.

now this film is directed by a woman who used to be a man and filmed the previous parts, together with her brother, who is also a woman now. So decide for yourself ...

I'm a huge Matrix fan (the first one is one of my favourite films) and I'm hugely disappointed by this trailer. I guessed it would be bad but this is really bad. Cheap visuals and cheap music. It just looks like a TV film made for Disney or Netflix. I guess that no one here will be worried with the color grading. No green tint, just bland and boring. It reminds me of The Force Awakens, where they rehash all the stories from the original trilogy in the most tedious way. And it has the same effect: it's so crap that will make the hated sequels look good.
They had such a huge potential with that universe and ruined it.

To be exceedingly fair, a trailer's grade may not be final... but yeah.

Haha, well, you can say that since you're from Russia. In the West this topic is pretty political and leads to angry conversations so it's the kind of thing I personally wouldn't bring up in this friendly forum.

The Matrix has been rebooted after the events of the third film (both the franchise and the simulation) so the color grading may be final.
My understanding is that Lily is having psychological issues following her transition so decided not to work on the movie. Make of that what you will, but I wonder if she saw the script and wanted nothing to do with it.

You are right, I will not raise this topic either, but also this part is no longer such as the past, it was filmed by other people, with another consciousness.

I watched the trailer yesterday and I think it's not *that* bad... in a way, it's reassuring to see Neo and Trinity older - so even superstars are getting old - but I miss the original Morpheus.
Don't want to raise up prejudices based only on a trailer - I'll wait to watch it, then I'll get an option - if it will be good, I guess I need to watch it two or three times as the original one to get a proper idea of what happened!

I'm not sure the brothers were other people in 1998/1999. At least Larry was already transitioning then with hormones and stuff. Remember all this hoopla about them preferring not to do too many interviews and being "private". They were already into it. Matrix was also already full of this transitioning stuff they are known for today, I mean with all the agents being able to get into other peoples bodies including women, it's pretty obvious were their obsessions were, looking back on it. They just wrapped it carefully around stuff like Japanime and HK cinema and had the luck of being patronised by Joel Silver, who I believe was at least 50% responsible for the first film being so good.
The second and third sucked because Silver took a step back in the control department, and the Bros were full of themselves acting like wonder kids geniuses when in fact, they don't have shown with the sequels, or any later film, the skill that is obvious in the first film. The true genius is Joel Silver and in fact he created Matrix already it was called Commando.
In this trailer, I don't see anything new. The original film was new to western people because they had not been exposed to Japanime and HK action films then (at this time, it was still stuff only geek and nerds liked, not the general audiences), and it had Joel Silver pushing it all to the front. I'm guessing, with the new one, and no Joel Silver, maybe it's just John Wick out in the Matrix world, after discovering someone killed his two cats. It looks like a Netflix DTV with dodgy effects.
