[Help] Escape From New York Blu Ray
#1
Which blu ray of Escape From New York has the best transfer? Studio Canal, Scream Factory, or MGM?

From what I understand, the Studiocanal transfer is the best in terms of quality as it is a 4K scan of the OCN and is available as a UHD. However, I also hear the Shout! Scream Factory blu-ray is the closest looking to a theatrical 35mm print as the 2K transfer was made from an interpositive, showcasing colder color timing throughout.

Hmm. I just found out there might be a 4k Escape From New York coming from Scream Factory next year so I'm probably just going to wait for that. It appears that Studio Canal really messed up the colors like they did with the Rambo 4ks especially Rambo III

Yes, the MGM is really dark, but has the best PQ. The Shout! Blu-ray was said by Carpenter to be the actual look of the film, but he probably just looked at the caps and said it was because it looked like the past video transfers. It has EE and it looks like crap to me.

I have seen the film in 35mm about 6 years back, and though the MGM doesn't look like the print, it's the best to enjoy the film. (Plus it has the original stereo mix).

The print mostly look like the worst, original SC Blu-ray, only without of course all the bad interlacing and edge processing.
