[Request] The Wizard of Oz (1939) 1989/1991 LD [ML101656] mono track synced to UHD/BD?
#1
I own the 70th Anniversary Emerald Edition Blu-ray+DVD combo pack of The Wizard of Oz (1939).

According to Blah-ray, the 1989 MGM/UA LaserDisc and the 1991 MGM/UA LaserDisc, both marked ML101656, share the same mono soundtrack, which is the blogger's favorite audio of the movie.

I was wondering if someone could rip the digital/analog left channel mono audio from the 1989 or 1991 LaserDisc of the movie and sync it to the Blu-ray and UHD. I would like to use the BD-synced audio to replace the Dolby Digital 1.0 mono track on my MKV file rip of the BD. I don't want the 1988 Criterion LD audio, because that has heavy noise reduction applied to it, according to Blah-ray.

Thanks.

If I am able to get the LD track as mentioned on the blah-ray would gladly sync it to the UHD/ HD Blu-ray.

I'd go for the 1993 LD audio. I fear the truncated audio would annoy me. Right now I'm using the 1997 DVD in my remux.

you'd pick the lower quality audio just so you can hear that one word? just splice/edit that one line in the 89 recording.

I'd need to hear both LDs to know if I could tell the difference in quality. All I have access to is the DVD audio track.

True,
The 89 LD is just way to superior from the samples provided at Blah ray

I'm going to a 35mm screening in June. Hopefully it's a print struck from original film elements, rather than a film-out of a digital restoration.

Are there any mysteries re. picture or audio, e.g. color timing and missing dialog/effects, that a 35mm print can help answer? I can try looking out for those.

I think I actually spurred him to finally make the Wizard of Oz blog post after I sent him a recording and he realized the 91 LD sounded better than the 97 DVD. Not sure where Moshrom got his 89 recording from, but I supplied the 89 VHS and 91 LDs. I never got around to syncing it though but I'll send it your way.
