Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movies
#1
Hey everyone!

I've been recently enjoying the German SDR UHD of Texas Chain Saw Massacre and the 2K Shout BD of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Does anyone have any insight if there are better audio tracks for those two releases, or are the BD tracks all right?

I know that Shout is generally all right at audio releases but I have no idea about the German UHD.

Curious if anyone has checked out the laserdisc or older DVDs.

TCM 2: http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=162

Thanks guys!

The UK 40th anniversary BD of TCM1 has two LPCM audio tracks (1.0 and 2.0 audio) while German UHD only has DTS MA. I do not know if they are really better then the tracks on the German Disc, but some people fancy uncompressed LPCM.

True, though I was more wondering per Moshrom/Blah Ray's general observations, if there was an older release with less noise reduction, etc.

Sometimes old, bad German DVDs might have such gems as unremastered audio.
As an example... The overall bad German DVDs and BDs of Day of the Dead contain the uncensored/-altered English audio versions.

Run the audio tracks through Spek or similar, you'll soon see if they've been noise reduced or filtered. Other than that just go 'by ear'.

I watched this on 35mm a few years back, hell of an experience, especially the closing moments. The print was warm, green-ish in places, overall warmer than the more recent Blu releases which look more neutral in colour.

I think I have all the blu-rays (new UHD excepted) and some of the DVDs of the first film. All are underwhelming and basically the same mastering. This LD or this tape might be better.

What about the Pioneer DVD?
