VHS Hi-Fi / THX Purchase

There wouldn't be a VHS better than a 5.1 mix for ID4 . lol even if there is a slightly better frequency response I still wouldn't bother for a movie like that. Besides i already have the PCM laserdisc as well and it's vastly inferior to the 5.1.

Outlaw Josey Wales 1990 edition (Im almost done, LD is probably better)
meaning of life 1996 (bad tape, likely same as 1998 DVD)
great escape (gold band vhs) same as LD
five easy pieces (1995 edition, inferior to LD)
beetlejuice 1990 vhs (same as LD)
one flew over the cuckoo's nest ( republic pictures, 1st edition DVD is best)

I'm not after any of your syncs, I was just curious seeing as you're pretty dismissive of VHS sound in general, why you would make the effort to sync those particular captures

Five easy pieces according to bad audio the LD wasn't very good so thought id give it a try
outlaw i didnt have the LD of so i grabbed it
meaning of life only has a dvd and analog ld for the og mix
great escape i used to have the same tape as a kid so thought id try it out
itheres only a very small handful of titles im interested in on vhs.

I watched my blu-ray once with the 5.1 audio and it was horrific.

Ripped it - so I'd have a copy - and sold it.

Haven't been able to bring myself to go near since.

thats one you can't really work on without video, pretty much everything on the 5.1 is different.

I own an S-VHS player w/ a jog-shuttle, Super VHS out, and a built-in TBC. It defeats most dropouts and maintains the HiFi track encoded as part of the video signal (that is lost on the dropouts and back tracking).
I can tell you more about and also what to look for, as I was in the same boat as you a few years ago.
The thing about these players is, they must be cleaned and kept-up or they will stop working and then you can't use them anymore unless you really know what you're doing, or invoke a service center that you trust (or willing to pay round trip shipping which would be exorbitant).

I've been hunting for a good deal on a JVC TBC player but I'm not ready to drop that kinda cash since they are so expensive.

In my experience rotted LDs are far more common than people think and I run into them much more often than problematic VHS tapes. I've never had a tape drop out of hi-fi during a recording unless it was damaged to start out with.
