When Medium Cool used Larry "Wild Man" Fischer's song 'Merry Go Round' in the roller derby sequence during the film's theatrical run, Fischer took legal action and sued Paramount for copyright due to its use in the movie.
When Paramount released the movie on VHS in 1982, they used the theatrical cut with Fischer's 'Merry Go Round' still intact. Fischer found out about this and once again sued Paramount for copyright. Ever since then, every subsequent home video release has the song replaced with the Harlem Globetrotters' version of 'Sweet Georgia Brown' by Brother Bones, making the '82 VHS now quite rare.
I'm planning to sync the audio from the VHS to the Criterion Blu-ray so I can match it closely to the original theatrical cut of the film. If anyone has this VHS, can you rip it for me and send it to me so I can use the audio and sync to the Blu-ray?
Your help is highly appreciated. Thank you so much!
