This is the same for me. If the "auto media" setting is on in settings, then this sometimes override/counteracts this for imgur and some other images (though they are then surrounded by [image: ]).

Well, f*ck me, I went to settings -> "thread view options" and I noticed that the options "Display images in posts" and "Display videos in posts" were not selected. I ticked them and now everything works fine. I never unselected them to begin with, that's why I never suspected something so simple was the cause. The only thing I've changed in the past was the theme.

If this solves the problem for everyone else, I'd say SOLVED!
