A work in progress version of a movie, not exactly supposed to be shown to audiences. Usually they are inside studio stuff for them to see what the movie looks like before they validate the final cut to be released. During this process, there are test screening audiences that can see those to give the studio feedback for instance. Apocalypse Now was famously presented at the Cannes Film Festival as a workprint as it wasn't a finished film yet. Blade Runner was also presented about 10 years after its release in a limited event that led to the creation of the director's cut afterwards.
