I would have to double check but I'm sure I read that the AC-3 LD for JP had the correct levels vs the DTS, so when people did straight A/B comparisons the DTS would win. Once the levels were adjusted the mixes were basically in the same ballpark.

I've heard the PCM stereo was a mix supervised by Spielberg for the stereo releases but I've seen no source on that. I have synced it though and it sounds quite nice

When last I compared the Ld ac3 and Ld DTS, they really didn’t sound all that different to me. But I’ve improved my ripping/syncing techniques since then, so I’ll have another go at them both.

Any chance to get a copy of this? I have one or two versions of the LD audio but this one seems to be the superior one.

the V2 R1 DTS DVD is fine enough (still probably the best release to get for OG audio) but it's still half-rate with worse cutoff and incorrect LFE level. LD DTS by comparison is full-rate with much better cuttoffs and bitrate.

Unless the bitrate is very high (lossless), the difference cannot make a serious perceptible difference in the tonality of the sound what is important is the impressiveness of the mastering on the sound, namely great detail extensions, gain and dynamics. Some laser dts (including JP) that i have checked in the past do not have as much detailled tonality as the cinema dts mixes of the same films, they are a bit limited in that regard  Thanks given by: david49120

its 1.2mbps vs 768kbps, pretty big gap there
No, since the bitrate of both is low the difference in transparency in the texture of the sound cannot exceed 2 - 3% audibly. The difference between 2000 and 4000 kbps is perceived more clearly, about 10% aurally, but it is still not much. Of course, in order to clearly perceive this difference, the sound recordings must be close to the mastering features i mentioned above. The detail extensions of dvd dts titles are pretty close to cinema dts masterings
