The Force Awakens (spoiler thread)
#1
Yesterday I went to a cinema, to watch the 2D version; ready to be completely blasted away, and... simply, it didn't happen!

Without spoilering anything, at the end of the movie I just thought: "this was an EP 4 remake... yes, new charaters (but not only), new worlds, new aliens, new enemies... but basically the same story, more or less..."

Was it bad? Nope, was fun, entertaining, but, apart few surprises, it was like most of the time I was watching just a sort of "reinterpretation" of EP 4 (and/or EP 5 and/or 6 here and there)...

So, waiting a fresh new movie, I was disappointed to discover an old story, just "refreshed"... and, many persons at the end of the movie thought this, so *maybe* it's not *just* the fact I'm overly exigent! Big Grin

I agree Andrea. Not sure I'd call the worlds "new" either, I actually thought that Rey and Finn were on Tatooine at the start, until it was made clear that it was in fact "Jakku".

I felt the same way. They rehashed literally everything from ANH. I completely gave up on the movie when I saw Death Star 3.0.

Sadly TFA is a 6/10 action flick that belonged in the summer next to Jurassic World.

I'm finally going to see this tomorrow in 3D. I'm excited. I'll finally be able to join in on the convo too, LOL.

it was clear that they are doing a sort of sequel / reboot and I think they did a very good job and created a very entertaining movie, which feels more like star wars,
than those forgettable prequels. Still Empire and A New Hope rank higher on my personal list, but having TFA on third place is an excellent achievement.
only sad thing, story did not bother me and I think that there were some references too many and Han telling multiple times, that he likes the new kids felt more
akward than in Indiana Jones trying to promote Shia ... so it was too obvious that he will leave the stage in this episode already. but as said, it was a lot of fun with
known and new characters and some excellent action scenes. will watch it again this week in a Dolby Cinema.

I've watched this twice now, going for a third this week. My first viewing was a rollercoaster of fear and high expectation, I left the cinema numb with confusion. After a second viewing I was certain this was an excellent movie and I really enjoyed it.

Star Wars is back and in a good way this time. Its time to allow the prequels to die and for them to be a forgotten time, "a dark time"

I think they did a good job, a near impossible job of having a movie live up to nearly 40 years of nostalgia.

Also, anyone who thinks this was better than Jedi needs to re watch Jedi again. It may have Ewoks but its still original trilogy and has some great things going for it.

Was this episode that bad, taken as single movie? Not at all!
Was this episode that bad, taken as seventh part of the saga? To me... yep! Big Grin

Read the following review - written by an IMBD user, so take this as is, but frankly I agree almost completely with what the user wrote: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur36063407/comm...ef_=tt_urv

spoRv is surrounded with the Dark Side of the Force.

I sense a plot to destroy TFA.
