Nope. Sorry can't help there. Will check if the original studiocanal DVD was with french titles.
On note, the Shout Factory Blu ray is from a print or an IP not the neg. The MGM have more detail. So if you wanna extend the sides, fine, but use the MGM as your main source.

Isn't the MGM way too dark and from a dated transfer? I've been working on the Shout Factory to avoid the crushed blacks of the previous releases.
I've asked to a couple of sellers on eBay if they can check their laserdiscs (a French one and a German one), I'm waiting on their reply. But please do check also your DVDs (and VHS tapes if you have them).

Sorry, I only have the Korean, Shout Factory and German BluRays.
Mhmm.. I think I need to get the first "community Release" that uses the HDTV Video... Interesting color differences...

MGM is ONeg, the Shout have boosted contrast. Check Blu-ray.com they all say the same thing.

All you need to do is fix the brighness on the MGM to get the best quality ever. The other one is like one of those scans fans make of prints.

You can't just increase the brightness on the MGM image and hope to find more details from those pitch-black areas, you would if it was a raw scan but not from the final product like a bluray. Same thing can be said about the Shout Factory, you can't reduce the over-blown stuff. Neither of the two are perfect releases so either choice will have negative aspects to keep in consideration. I trust the color timing of Shout better than MGM since Shout used interpositive which has all the intended color timing (MGM never got the colors right to begin with, this was already a known fact). In a film that is 99% dark I can trade in some blown-out whites in exchange of a color timing from Interpositive scan, no black crush, extra information on the sides.
I would like to fix the problems with the Shout release
Quote:Only thing is it has the following issues that need to be addressed to make it the essential version:
1, Brightness / contrast needs to be fixed as its too bright (Mgm release was too dark with black crush and zoomed aspect ratio)
2, Blue lines (print emulsion damage) need to be erased and fixed as much as possible in numerous scenes.
3, Blown Out David 14 computer graphic needs to be fixed
4, Moire effect behind Snake in Hauk's office makes the picture look like it is alive.
5, All tracks from original spoRv version need to be synced.
I'll see if these are within my skill range although I didn't really want to re-encode anything. We will see what can be done.

Time to revive this threat... thinking about EFNY, and what eventually it can be done that Evit hasn't done (yet)... color grading? Restore clipped whites?
I'm not sure Shout (and new DE BD) has the right grading; these scene in particular: http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a=0&d...7&i=11&l=0
I always thought that it was happening right before sunrise, while in the Shout it seems full day... that's strange... someone can try to explain this?
