Hi to everyone, I did some research in audio, so far compared VC-1 vs JPN transfer. It seems VC-1 TrueHD is better, even it's 16 bit rather than 24 bit of jpn.

Nothing odd about that result. Bit depth sets the noise floor and not much else, 16 bit is already about 96 dB of range and no film mix gets near that, so what's being compared here is two masters rather than two formats. Worth checking whether that 24 bit track is genuinely 24 bit though. I ran every 24 bit lossless track on my shelf through it, 61 of them, decoding to s24le and counting how often the low byte of a sample is non zero, and exactly one came back flat zero across the whole film with signal clearly present, so a 16 bit master in a 24 bit wrapper. The rest were real.

One gotcha if you try it, a single short sample isn't enough. Quiet passages read near zero and look identical to padding, and I nearly mislabelled a track that way before checking four points across the runtime with peak levels alongside.
