Except it shouldn't do that, increasing the bit depth on a 16-bit file should have zero effect on the audio. If it is affecting the audio then it's not a practice that should be encouraged. Besides it's a non issue as this "hiss" only extends up to 4khz which most properly calibrated subwoofer won't even detect and play. For someone obsessed with stats and calibration you clearly have some very faulty logic, and again the whole Se7en thing which is relevant to the thread?

Also I checked myself (waste of my time but fine) and yeah not a difference when the 16 to 24 done right (ignore the wrong leveling)

I tried it out myself. On my first few attempts, I had the dither setting disabled by mistake. I learned my lesson.

Let this be a lesson to all you Cinema DTS audio syncers out there. Instead of listening to Kado_2020 and upconverting your Cinema DTS tracks to 24-bit/48kHz, always enable the dither setting in foobar2000 before you output your audio tracks at 16-bit/44.1kHz.

Everyone needs to calm down in this thread or I’ll close it. First and last warning.

We'll remain calm from now on. We promise. Cross our hearts and hope to get permanently banned.

The medication i've been taking has caused serious side effects, which is why i couldn't respond in time. Edit: Dithering is always applied in the final stage of the process, but i noticed significant hissing starting from 15 kHz on all channels in the current JP3 output.

Since people can't get along, I'm closing this thread.
I had multiple people report each other, in what I view as an abuse of the system. Differing opinons on technical details is not a reason to report someone. If this is taken to another thread (ex: The T2 CDS thread), if there is another fight, I will start handing out bans. |
