LaserDiscs needed for replacing BD audio
Yeah that's what. I thought guess the laserdisc is muffled. Too bad it's one of the better Mono tracks out there.

It's been quite badly filtered unfortunately. The DVD Mono is far superior.

I know Moshrom had found the Japanese LD of FULL METAL JACKET to be muffled. Do we know if the US pressing has a similar issue?

For FMJ, the japanese LD is from 1989 while the US release is from 91. Warner 90ies LDs are usually very good sounding and since they're a couple years apart, I'd bet there's a great chance the US release might sound better.

Usually Warner JP LDs sound better than US counterparts, but like Gremlins, comparing an US 90ies release to a Japan 80ies release might favor the US version.

Just about finished Once Upon A Time In America. It's definitely been my most challenging one so far, lots of minor adjustments but also one major one..

I wondered why the laserdisc was around 2 minutes shorter than the Blu-ray given they were both the same cut. At first I thought it might just be extra time at the start and end on the Blu-ray but it turns out the flashback sequence at the end when Noodles & Secretary Bailey are talking at the end is not on the LD!

So I've had to downmix and patch in a section from the Blu-ray. Not my area of expertise but think I've got it nailed in terms of volume matching and it sounds pretty seamless on my PC speakers. I've still to sync the last few minutes but once that's done I'll test it on my setup before uploading.

Interesting! I will try to track down the US release in the coming weeks.
