Guys if you haven't watched the Disney+ series Light & Magic, Episode 6 is incredible for JP fans. They also used 35mm footage to showcase the movie

Not a big change from the Shout! BD https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a=0&...60&i=0&l=0

It's a good thing this film restoration forum is here so folks can find out which celebrities have died recently.

But also pushing big, giant movies. The one thing I like about streaming is that it brings back mid tier films which I miss.

Could be good, could be bad. Seems at least for movies they are putting the push on theatrical first, instead of streaming. Which I like.

Good afternoon everyone. I am back. I had to be away for a long time due to a job change. I didn't have time to organize my files. I lost some files due to external HD failure. I hope now to resume my activities on the forum. Glad to be back here. Greetings everyone.

They can achieve the higher frame rate conversion by doing the same modern TV do, which is advance frame interpolation using a CGI reconstructed frame every other frame.

tbh I'm kind of curious how it will look considering it was filmed at 24. And I wonder if they'll go with 48 or 60

HDR in B/W can be really good. HDR isn't just colors. For B/W it can do great results in highlights and shadows. So no one should dismiss HDR for B/W content like NOTLD

There's plenty of B&W movies out there with proper HDR/DV grades that look beautiful
As far as I know, there is some benefit to HDR with B&W, not as much, but still appreciable. Probably gonna see a bit more detail, since you'll see more shades of gray

Agreed! Hopefully MGM wont use this to replace the older ones on its back cayalog

It's a director's cut in name only, but it's an interesting curio - I don't think there's a bad cut of Alien

Is Worth Watching The Directors Cut Of The Original Alien? One Of my theaters is going to show it on DCP

@HippieDalek Great can't wait to see them. Great stories as well I wish he did more. @NeonBible Thanks that makes it easier for me actually.

Looks like the Dr. Who double bill will be shown nationwide at other chains (Picturehouse, Cineworld etc) if you can't get to a Showcase

@alleycat The new 4K Blu Ray of Dr. Who and the Daleks is incredible! I never knew 2-Perf 35mm could look so good. The colours in particular look incredible. Can't wait for "Invasion" next month!

Watch classic James Bond 007 on real 35mm IB technicolor film this weekend only: https://mahoningdrivein.ticketleap.com/a...22/details

Anyone UK based, FYI Showcase are showing a double feature of the Peter Cushing Doctor Who movies on 10th July, assuming from that new 4K master.

that's a shame. I've heard their upmixer is a lot better then DSU/Neural-X though I've never had the chance to try it out myself
Top Gun Maverick was a blast on IMAX, hope it releases at some point with that Aspect ratio

Agree it was great, a solid film in the 80's style with solid characters great imagery and action. Will see it in IMAX next.

I can honestly say they haven't, the emotional beats aren't there, and I'd say they are the heart of the film, as they should be, and as far as the stunts are concerned, boy...you're not ready LOL

Of course! One hitch in that version though, during the climax the footage shifted from IMAX to 2.4:1, and the color timing changed dramatically from chilly cool to summer dusk in 2 consecutive shots of the same thing. Other than that, holy hell, an absolute romp

@stwd4nder2 Eric's quite well known and liked, I never had any doubt. He's now reached the initial target with a few days to go to raise some funds beyond it!

Those are some long episodes for Stranger Things. It's a "strange thing" they're doing with this season.

Was almost worried they wouldn't meet the goal. Glad to see that it will be fully restored.

Eric is a crowd-funding genius. 240 bucks to go - anyone interested hop on Kickstarter - Kong of the Kingo 1929, the world's first cinematic serial with sound (watch the video he explains what it is): https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/162...5mm-serial

I'm divided as to whether I watch it now and then have to endure the 5 week wait for the last 2 episodes or wait 5 weeks and watch it all over a weekend.

Looks like another great Mission Impossible. Wish it were this year but still some good flicks coming this summer.
