the filesize difference feels right. If the DTS-MA is a 5.1 (or 6.1 or 7.1) mix, you can replicate that in a lossless FLAC and save on the space. Some FLAC decoders might struggle a bit representing the discrete channels though

Like Dolby Vision layer on top of the HDR10 base on discs. Kind of what I thought at another time. So because it has to max out the DTS core bitrate consistently there is often more than needed. Okay, now I get what stwd4nder2 meant.

The core is the older DCA codec (full bitrate) and the extra information is used to reconstruct the lossy core into a lossless audio track
Then the program fre:ac isn't messing up the conversion. Okay. Embedded DTS stream? I thought the DTS core was part of the same Master Audio stream. That when a device can't play MA, the codec simply tells it to cut off all the information above DTS core. Are you saying the core audio is redundant?

FLAC is much more efficient then DTS-HD, plus it doesn't have the embedded DTS stream which at full bitrate can take up half of that 1.9GB by itself
Is it right for a three hour stereo DTS-HD MA track to be reduced from 1.9 GB to 250 MB when converting to FLAC? Is it really still the same quality? It's an old movie, Judgement at Nuremberg (Kino). I never converted any of my movies to FLAC until yesterday. Seems odd that there would be so much filler in the track.
whats a good, short+sweet fast program to overlay/merge 2 (or more) vids together, like a melding, interwoven, combining both images into 1 (not append or stack!). I know Premiere can do it, but I have to setup a whole new project just to do that, or edit a timeline, its a bit much. Any other programs to do it, respect the colorspaces, not degrade the video quality, fast?

If anyone’s interested I’m doing a worst discs of 2022 awards tonight: https://youtu.be/YcNq5AY_FFk

There are reasons why these projects were donors only and I can only ask everyone to keep their promise to NOT share them. It's not about being generous, it's about being respectful to those who made these projects possible.

I got one on OT. He asked for a scan of The Lion King. I told him I didn't have it, but I'd let him know if anyone who got a copy for having donated to make the scan possible proves generous enough to make it public.
If you've read the bluray.com forum, you've seen the bad news about Superman in the new 4K boxset, right? They removed the 5.1 track from the first film.
FYI, Kathryn Bigelow in attendance, it was tonight, but its also 4/4-> https://drafthouse.com/nyc/event/terror-...-near-dark
off topic, this is pretty cool https://www.yedlin.net/ResDemo/ResDemoPt2.html (Pt1 is interesting but a little more general) demo of resolutions, how they work, cropping, zooming, IMAX vs 4k, very helpful
DaVinci Resolve does realtime voice isolation/music removal. It works awesome. https://youtu.be/EzpRM8lCwNI?t=1103

@PDB according to reviews the video is top notch. I haven't seen myself, so I can't comment on it.

Basic Instinct Theatrical Trailer (1992) [4K] [FTD-1070] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL-eEzcSU3w a bit red faded but interesting nevertheless

Rocky Series on 4K Blu-ray is screwed. Tons of audio issues. So be aware and possibly hold your purchase

I saw it in 3D the other night. DNR is evident but in all honestly, it was well managed. looked great on the big screen.

If Titanic is anything like Aliens or Terminator then it has been degrained and then regrained

Is it possible to rip from prime and netflix? Netflix Germany have the oceans films in 4k DV and prime has a concert I want to preserve
HEED THIS WARNING: Look at the clever auto-rules-filter a hacker set up on my Gmail w/out me knowing.. I was going crazy wondering where my missed stuff was?? (It was all in my 'Trash' folder!) <-note the word-triggers. I missed important emails from Amazon, my bank, an issue about my car, a free movie ticket that expired, Dr. appts... vicious! https://i.imgur.com/ypS90oR.jpg
@Endocryne zilch, but could be summer or fall release? They're not annoucning far in advance like they used to. Lets all promise to post the news here once we see it? I'm wondering whats the holdup of Friedkin's TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA 4k which transfer's been approved for awhile now, also whats up / MIAMI VICE 2006 4k?
I know Amazon doesn't have it, thats to recompense me for the rental. I don't want a vudu gift card, if such a thing exists. Good luck to you sir.

@Bilbofett Amazon does not have the 4k transfer as of yet. According to justwatch its only on Vudu. Il'l eventually check it out in my travels.
@SpaceBlackKnight drop me a $6 Amazon gift card via email and I'll check it out and give you screenshots

Once Upon a Time in the West is 4k on Vudu. Anybody in the US wanna check out if it's been degrained like To Catch a Thief or solid like Waynes World?

is it better to time-stretch a previously interpolated video, or interpolate a previously time-stretched video?
Hey Merry Christmas, if you got some (a lot of?) money, there is a Terminator collector from netherlands, selling a 70mm center print from T2 3D for 3500€, and then you can provide a 4k scan of it, using your christmas money! XD

@zoidberg King Conan was a thing for awhile, I don't think Arnold was too old. Someone backed out though
yes @bronan. It was the theatrical cut as far as I can tell. I wish I'd checked to see if they fixed that missing music.. If I'd heard it, that would lend weight to the idea that its a newer transfer
@titanic I did watch Conan, I'll post my thoughts here, if it doesn't allow all of it I'll make a new post and link u: the Conan the Barbarian presentation last night.. I could argue both ways for it being a new 4k transfer. It looked filmic, detailed, lots of grain.. but it could've been a nice 1080 print. It might've been 4k, it was hard to tell. I did not see any evidence of HDR or renewed colors (increased saturation) or anything of that nature, possibly Akiro's red clothing now seemed more vivid? I may have also seen evidence of upscaling, but I'm not sure. It was squiggly lines in the sky behind Thulsa Doom in the beginning right before they behead Conan's mom. The issue is, it was Cinemark and the manager told me not all theaters have a 4k projector (just a few). So it could've been 4k screened on a 2k. The Day-for-night running from the wolves shot seemed fix, except, the outer part of the cave still had bright(ish) light coming in?? Conan punched the Lama, but there was no extra scene w/ the princess at Thulsa's throne-lair. I do not remember where the missing audio (score) should've been so I wasn't prepared to listen for that. It could've been a 5.1 presentation but it sounded super front-heavy to me. I was 1 of just 2 people in the whole theater, lol, I sat in the wheelchair access (I normally don't). The "never been screened" bonus features were just deleted scenes we've all seen before. Disappointing. I knew that "never before SCREENED" (not SEEN, get it?) comment was going to be sneaky like that. Often when they do these theater presentations it means a new disc is on the way (but not always).

(Not my project, but needs help) Joe Alves (JAWS, CE3K, EFNY) doco Kickstarter: http://kck.st/3TSrk1W
@Bilbofett Did you watch Conan eventually? I think I saw someone at bluray.com saying that it didn't seem like a new master.
@titanic I'll let you know after Tuesday night if it looks like a new 4k master

German NES is the extended cut with alternate score. The US Warner cut shorter and has a different score.
