Hey Merry Christmas, if you got some (a lot of?) money, there is a Terminator collector from netherlands, selling a 70mm center print from T2 3D for 3500€, and then you can provide a 4k scan of it, using your christmas money! XD
@titanic @bronan @zoidberg another thing lending weight to the idea that the Conan transfer was new: Akiro's monologue at the end was different, and didn't match the text on screen, I noticed it immediately
yes @bronan. It was the theatrical cut as far as I can tell. I wish I'd checked to see if they fixed that missing music.. If I'd heard it, that would lend weight to the idea that its a newer transfer
@titanic I did watch Conan, I'll post my thoughts here, if it doesn't allow all of it I'll make a new post and link u: the Conan the Barbarian presentation last night.. I could argue both ways for it being a new 4k transfer. It looked filmic, detailed, lots of grain.. but it could've been a nice 1080 print. It might've been 4k, it was hard to tell. I did not see any evidence of HDR or renewed colors (increased saturation) or anything of that nature, possibly Akiro's red clothing now seemed more vivid? I may have also seen evidence of upscaling, but I'm not sure. It was squiggly lines in the sky behind Thulsa Doom in the beginning right before they behead Conan's mom. The issue is, it was Cinemark and the manager told me not all theaters have a 4k projector (just a few). So it could've been 4k screened on a 2k. The Day-for-night running from the wolves shot seemed fix, except, the outer part of the cave still had bright(ish) light coming in?? Conan punched the Lama, but there was no extra scene w/ the princess at Thulsa's throne-lair. I do not remember where the missing audio (score) should've been so I wasn't prepared to listen for that. It could've been a 5.1 presentation but it sounded super front-heavy to me. I was 1 of just 2 people in the whole theater, lol, I sat in the wheelchair access (I normally don't). The "never been screened" bonus features were just deleted scenes we've all seen before. Disappointing. I knew that "never before SCREENED" (not SEEN, get it?) comment was going to be sneaky like that. Often when they do these theater presentations it means a new disc is on the way (but not always).
The new 4K transfer on Christmas Vacation is wonderful. Haven't listened closely to the new 5.1 track but stereo is also included and a commentary. Highly recommended.
General warning again: Windows update to version 22H2 has jacked up my Adobe Premiere, general codecs interaction, especially Lagarith (older codec) encoding and decoding..its not even displaying the full 8.3 filename w. extension in Premiere; its calling it ".av" instead of ".avi!" I don't think I can roll it back either. There's also reports of very sluggish performance handling large files in Windows, waveform drawing visibility vanishing for AAC audio after upgrading (in both video and audio editors), and Nvidia had a bug (also w/ Win11) of super slow frame-rates in games until they patched the driver. Beware!
