I think they'll milk the Disney+ streaming for a good while before ever putting a disc out.

@NeonBible Hoping for a disc release too, but unfortunately this is Disney we're talking about!
The new 4K remaster of The Muppet Christmas Carol extended version is finally coming to Disney+ in December. Hoping for a disc release too.
And Polar Express soon. Together with P,T&A its a really great year for festive releases!
Nice, one of my favorites. I see A Christmas Story and Elf are also out on UHD.
The new 4K transfer on Christmas Vacation is wonderful. Haven't listened closely to the new 5.1 track but stereo is also included and a commentary. Highly recommended.
General warning again: Windows update to version 22H2 has jacked up my Adobe Premiere, general codecs interaction, especially Lagarith (older codec) encoding and decoding..its not even displaying the full 8.3 filename w. extension in Premiere; its calling it ".av" instead of ".avi!" I don't think I can roll it back either. There's also reports of very sluggish performance handling large files in Windows, waveform drawing visibility vanishing for AAC audio after upgrading (in both video and audio editors), and Nvidia had a bug (also w/ Win11) of super slow frame-rates in games until they patched the driver. Beware!
Yes. I am in the beta test forum and we cannot believe that they released it. May be a corp decision.
Topaz VEAI 3.0 is out, lots of bugs unfortunately https://community.topazlabs.com/t/topaz-...0/35818/67
The Keep is the old LD master in OAR, while Near Dark is the StudioCanal BD master.
The Planes Traines and Automobiles 4k release with 75 extra minutes is the greatest announcement this year! 😄
Happy 60th to the James Bond movie franchise. I totally missed a Bond music tribute concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Sad about that!
Look like they found parts from the legendary 3 hour cut of Planes, Trains and Automobile : https://twitter.com/jasondashbailey/stat...2812873729

I guess now is a good a time as any to finally watch Barry Lyndon as a mark of respect
The sound mix is definitely not as dynamic as the IMAX, and it very much reminded me of the standard version. Not bad, but also doesn't rock as it could have. Film is still awesome, but definitely works better on a big screen (Which I say to its credit)
Here is a review with some mention of the audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvBrbTmY3O0
Guys if you haven't watched the Disney+ series Light & Magic, Episode 6 is incredible for JP fans. They also used 35mm footage to showcase the movie
Not a big change from the Shout! BD https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a=0&...60&i=0&l=0
It's a good thing this film restoration forum is here so folks can find out which celebrities have died recently.
But also pushing big, giant movies. The one thing I like about streaming is that it brings back mid tier films which I miss.
Could be good, could be bad. Seems at least for movies they are putting the push on theatrical first, instead of streaming. Which I like.
Good afternoon everyone. I am back. I had to be away for a long time due to a job change. I didn't have time to organize my files. I lost some files due to external HD failure. I hope now to resume my activities on the forum. Glad to be back here. Greetings everyone.

They can achieve the higher frame rate conversion by doing the same modern TV do, which is advance frame interpolation using a CGI reconstructed frame every other frame.
tbh I'm kind of curious how it will look considering it was filmed at 24. And I wonder if they'll go with 48 or 60
HDR in B/W can be really good. HDR isn't just colors. For B/W it can do great results in highlights and shadows. So no one should dismiss HDR for B/W content like NOTLD
There's plenty of B&W movies out there with proper HDR/DV grades that look beautiful
As far as I know, there is some benefit to HDR with B&W, not as much, but still appreciable. Probably gonna see a bit more detail, since you'll see more shades of gray
