International transfer from DVD is fine, it's that German LD that's all wrong
Shoutbox archive
I guess I could do shot by shot audio sync as well, the 'delay' in some scenes couldn't be possible to hear. And I could to it with both German AND English dubs at same time in Reaper, so maybeee
also could be that they did not find the complete dubbed version for the LD mastering...
maybe it wasn't dubbed, because it was cut from the theatrical release back in days. Also I read somewhere that John Woo wanted it to be removed from the movie, and maybe the international Transfer was cutted that way...
And, when I am home, I can check the other UK DVDs, if one of it uses the international transfer...
Did they forgot to dub that scene in the children choir? Because it has German hardsubs on that part.
I'll upload it tomorrow evening... it is about 1 gB in size and would take about 3-4 hours...
If you want to check out, if the german DVD provides some help, I may upload the ripped Version, and if the DVD can be usefull, I can upload a disc rip as soon as I have it at hand.
Could just put frames with audio from other LD rip in that place, but it could 'sound' odd
The English dub I have is also from same transfer, so I guess I'll have to find a way somehow to fix these audios
Yeah.. saw it with the "A Better Tomorrow" writing... I think its quite a coole Title font for that movie...
I can check what Intro GErman LD is using.. I think I have some ripped Version on a HDD somerwhere around...
But yeah, I guess I'll just put that German LD capture as extra on the disc, because it's gonna be rather impossible to sync that to BD.
seems as if the german LD used the international intro version... I do not know what the UK LD does...
Overall, I feel pretty young in regards to everyone around here (FanRes) and ADC.
And yeah, that German LD is completely some different transfer even - https://youtu.be/S3HJYmWdddA
I am from 1997 myself, but there's bootleg VHS capture on AsianDVDClub from that cut.
This is the "mystical" Festival Cut of John Woo's masterpiece; shown in 1990 during a Film Festival in Finland. Unfortunately deemed for too long and therefore never released! Joy Sales / Fortune Star made an attempt of reconstructing this cut with their DVD release. IMHO they failed! Why? They simply re-inserted some of the deleted scenes in to the theatrical cut
the one on the hong kong remastered DVD release with the reinserted scenes in lower quality?
the german LD was the only "on disc" Version in GErmany containing the singing child choir... all DVDs missing that scene.
I asked regarding the non german Versions.. because AFAIK there is no German audio with the original music used,
which soundtrack version are you using.. afaik there are two different music versions with the cantonese and/or english Audio...
I have the German DVD release, If you want to try that... but not before the mentiond "I am home" Day
I think I won't be adding German dub from it into the project, as its missing frames etc.
I am no fanb of downloading stuff... as being from germany, it really could get someone into trouble using Torrent and such stuff...
Or you can download it somewhere, I think it's removed from ADC because of stupid rule that forbids uploading Blurays without untouched video stream.
It's custom release made by fans, look for their Facebook page and you can order through there.
ah.. okay... I have the Taiwan DVD with that version... too bad Bootlegs are quite expensive
If you ever do a "Hard Boiled" Project: I have a low quality, burned in subtitled 131 minutes Version...
I would like to put my hands on that Deltamac, as only ones I have are 5.1 Mandarin.
Original HK Laserdisc release apperantly has mono mandarin dub, but it's nearly impossible to get it anywhere nowadays.
Old Deltamac DVD seemed to got Mandarin in Dolby Digital 2.0, but every later release seems to got the 5.1 Dolby...
Only Mandarn in 5.1 on Fortune Star DVD and 6.1 (According to ofdb.de) on Hong Kong BD...
Could be that I have the japanese BD trilogy box set.. I will check, when I am back at home August 19. give me a PM, so better chance that I do not forget it...
Do you, by any chance, have Japanese BD? I would like to include subtitles from it in my custom.
What's the thing with the Anchor Bay DVD? I do not have it, just have two or three different UK DVDs, the German DVD, the Hong Kong Trilogy Box set... one or two LDs (I think the german, and UK one) and the old BDs...
I just ordered the original BD at yesasia, but if your project is complete, I'd love to lern, how to get it.
@PDB Just wondering, is there anything inherently wrong with 24fps on Blu-ray?
Don't argue with their logic, I mean come on, they sold upscaled DVDs as "HD Blu-ray"
Sweet I'd love to see it when done...but in 2016, ten years into the Bd format, they made a 24fps disc?
And I got English subtitles from one friend at AsianDVDClub, that are even better than Optimum UK ones.
Overall I will be making new Bluray with all the extras, audios, subtitles that I have and I could've found, also the Laserdisc video captures as extra.
Yeah, thanks for the tip, I managed to sync video from the Herald LD to the video from Bluray, frame-frame accurate.
@Colek If it's the remastered A Better Tomorrow BD you're trying to sync to, the video on the BD runs at 24 fps, whereas the LD (probably) runs at 23.976. Therefore, adjusting the speed would be a good idea. There's also probably not the exact same amount of frames in both releases, so some edits here and there will be most likely be necessary.
I can't get any of these tracks synchronized easily, because either somewhere in the middle it will drift off, even though start and end are good
Any tips on syncing Laserdisc audios? https://www.dropbox.com/s/f6gi902tjrw61y...0.png?dl=0
Just watched the movie. My LD is sourced on a theatrical print if that can be of any use.
Good thing I didn't try to buy the Super 8 print I found The Abyss is one sweet movie.
