Also, I notice comparing a few screen grabs of the BD to the UK 4:3 ones that the latter shows slightly less on the sides but exposes a sliver more on the top and huge chunks on the bottom (last cap has what appears to be the film aperture bobbling in and out of the frame). Strangely enough, some shots have more on the top and less on the bottom, like they shifted the frame up and down in the widescreen version.

That's quite common. There's not always a straight crop of the image.

I got the laserdisc 34003 today as part of a lot. I shall cap it when I am able. Shall I cap the video too? It claims to be framed at 1.66:1 letterbox.

Please do. Smile It will help with syncing, and it will be great to see the film in 1.66:1. I wish that there were a BD release with that AR.
