The same guy made a V2.0 using mainly the Chinese DVD dts track, and using Dr.Dre's tools for better color matching the SE scenes to the theatrical remaster. It's on the Spleen.

It's on the Spleen. It's English. This is pretty great -- I downloaded it the other day, and have just sampled bits and pieces, but it's nice work. Looking forward to watching the whole thing soon.

The 6.1 is Matrixed FYI
Definitely adds a bit more kick than the Dolby Digital 6.1 track on the disc

Out of curiosity, I made few tests to get an UAR version of The Abyss EE using open matte 1.78:1 HDTV and 1.33:1 DVD; most of the time, the HDTV "contains" the whole DVD picture, while in few cases there is more image top and/or bottom.
Examples: take in account these are really preliminary tests, so picture could be out of alignment, color matching is less than perfect, DVD is not "enhanced" etc. but you got the point: there could be some minimal (or more) image to "save" that could contain something interesting (or not). I would like to continue to test, and see if I could get more satisfactory results; is there any interest in this?

There is always interest in anything Abyss related from me

Arte will broadcast the Special Edition on november 25th. It is claimed to be in HD. True or fake, we'll have to wait and see...

They even made a point in stating that right away at the beginning of the movie: "not remastered yet by its director". |
