In this day and age, if you're having problems with MP4s on your computer/devices, you're doing something wrong and the problem is with you (or possibly old, badly formatted/encoded files).
I thought, the point/conclusion of this thread is MKV is nice for features, like menus, that MKV defined, which no players (or authoring tools) actually support and, I doubt never will, because, it's already been a while..
The way I see it is, I'm not aware of anything that supports MKVs and not MP4s, however not everything supports MKVs though (Apple iTunes). And I think, as time goes on, because MKV actually doesn't offer anything substantial over MP4, MP4 will win out (I think it already has), which is why I prefer MP4 containers.
