Projection based home theaters

My DLP was only 720p and I was running that on the 16' wide screen. Still rocked. 1080p gives me a smoother image naturally but just getting yourself a big image makes watching movies an event.

If you want to get the most out of home projection, a dedicated LUT box can really bring a massive increase in quality, even to lower end gear.

There are the multi-thousand dollar Radiance processors, but you can get a 1080P eecolor outbox for under $500, truly astounding difference once enabled.
It has 274,625 colour correction points, so you can get your TV or projector as good as it is possible to get it.

Correction, you can get them for USD299 now. You will need a HDCP stripper, but there are many simple splitters that are cheap and do that.

You won't find "HDCP strippers", but cheap splitters do the job. This one I can confirm strips HDCP. I wouldn't trust the power supply they give you though, use an Apple/Samsung/brand-name USB power source instead - even if you have to buy a cable for it.

Only thing to watch out for it the 8bit limitation on a lot of cheap splitters, but not a problem if you only have an 8bit output.

This one handles up to 12bit @ 1080P and at UHD 24P (but not UHD @ 60Hz @ 10bit)
