[proposal] Lord Of The Rings trilogy
#1
Finally, after two weeks of downloading - yep, 14 days, more or less - I grabbed the famous HDTV versions of the whole trilogy! (I searched those files for the last two or three years, by the way...)

Fellowship Of The Ring.mkv - (3:28:18) 1920x1088 (active 1893x782) 27634067KB
The Two Towers.mkv -(3:44:06) 1920x1088 (active 1893x782) 26044590KB
The Return Of The King.mkv -(4:12:26) 1920x1080 (1920x798) 33587604KB (C more HD logo in the black bar)

Quality is really good; I’m often surprised to discover how good these MPEG-2 broadcasts were (are, like the latest WOWOW Star Wars). But now, I’m aware of the existence of open matte 16:9 versions… and the mission to find’em all begins! Big Grin

OK, back on track: it is still interesting the idea of using those HDTV versions to make a project? IIRC the EE BD of FOTR has of course different colors than this (and the EE DVD), while TTT and ROTK seems to suffer less of color problems; can't remember the DNR "affaire", though...

It comes to my mind some shots found in the theatrical version are not included (or are different) in the extended edition; also, I discovered there are some snippets of deleted scenes in trailers and documentaries - I have seen them, and many are ready to be inserted, while others have bad quality, or unfinished... but Frodo as a sort of Gollum is nice!

I wonder if an "Extra Extended Edition" could be feasible, and interesting.

Not to add to what you are already doing spoRv but TServo and I had a conversation once where he told me that the screener of FOTR was closer to a 35mm print then the DVD/BD/etc. You might want to see if anyone has it for some color information (I haven't been able to find it)

I remember that thread on OT; of course, this project will use the DVD/HDTV color scheme, as it's the only reference apart the EE BD itself, if I'm not wrong.

Where did you find them spoRv? I'm still looking for HDTV Superman 2 & 3 but everything has been dead for long time whenever I look.

It will take about a month to finish to share them... and I'm going to release some of my project now, so... not for the moment... but I'm pretty sure someone with faster connection could be able to download and share them!

spoRv, is there any way you could send me The Fellowship of the Ring HDTV transfer? I've been trying to find it for AGES with no luck. Any torrents I've found stay at 0% for days. No seeders. Sad Would be greatly appreciated!!

What is the appeal of these? The Extended Versions were released on Blu Ray, what makes these special?

The extended Blu-ray of Fellowship of the Ring is abysmal. There are many, many HUGE color issues, both in the luminance and chrominance channels. The extended Blu-rays of Two Towers and Return of the Jedi are perfect, however. No problems at all with those ones. This is why I'm only trying to get my hands on the HDTV version of Fellowship. Smile
