LDs interesting to be preserved
#11
Still missing the commentary track from The Aftermath. It's the sole laserdisc-only commentary not preserved in either the thread on TehP****** or in my commentary collections, hosted on the torrent site with words that rhyme with Why Dream.

Maybe, but I don't own that disc, and the question in topic was which of my LDs shoould I send to spoRv to get the audio ripped.

I send the package yesterday, it now contains the squeezed T2 LD (to get all three audio tracks), the french Bullet in the Head LD for the original Audio treacks, and the german "Das Boot" extended cut version. Because the differencees in colors compared to the DVDs and BDs.

CAPTURE TIME! Big Grin
They will be captured in full resolution - 720x480 for T2, 720x576 for the others; as the PAL LDs have only one sountrack, they will be recorded bit-perfect in PCM 2.0 1441kbps; for T2, the same, plus the AC-3 bit-perfect, and the mono analog track - even if I don't know how different could be from the PCM.

The lossless audio/video would be provided to MrBrown via HDD; the untouched audio would be uploaded, with video as well - it could not be left lossless, as they will be several dozen GBs for each film - think T2 side1 is around 27GB! But I can convert it to a reasonable bitrate, to be watched and used for sync purposes as well.

About the latter: as AC-3 is very difficult to be manipulated without reconverting it, I'm ready to put it in sync with ONE BD version - please let me know which one would you prefer.

I think the most interesting BDs for that would either be the newer US Disc with the better grain, or the TeamBlu regrade from the japanese Disc... lesser grain, but I think beautifull graded...

other ideas?

As all the Blu's come from the same master they should be identical content wise, perhaps more/fewer blacks frames at beginning/end. If it is synced to the new US blu then it should be easy for others to adjust if needed, also it can then be synced to PDB's theatrical regrade   Ok

I now it's a few months away, but I would suggest for T2 to wait for the remastered release. Unless you're OK to do the sync work twice

Yep, I think to regrade to PDB's version is the way to go!

Can't be sure that all versions are the same... I'm pretty sure that the same edition has the same video all around the world, but not that different editions.

T2 full resolution + AC-3 captured.

Maybe someone other could do that, when the remastered release is released.. and it is not as well done as the PRedator Ultimate Hunter Edition... (always fear for the worst ^^)

Edit:
Not always the same versions are the same:

The UK Skynet has a bit less bitrate, because of the additional audio tracks.

Not to mention the differences between the german and french HD-DVD...

It always depends on the releasing company in the country.
If it is a worldwide release by one company: It may even have everywhere the same audio tracks, like Warner did with some catalog titles...

Or it is for certain regions, like Sonys Evil Dead remake Extended seem to be done for almost worldwide distribution... just missing the US FBI warning informations.. so I assume it may get a different release in the states.. if it is released there...

I'd like to do T2, if it gets issued on Blu-ray 3D (and it probably will). Speaking of which, is THX still certifying James Cameron's films?

About sync: I'm talking only about T2 AC-3, as to retain the soundtrack intact; PCM and analog tracks would be released untouched.
